Some losses cannot be measured by money alone.
Over the years, Williams Akoto , popularly known as Von Williams, built his career one frame at a time. Every camera, every lens, every light represented years of sacrifice, perseverance, and dedication to the craft he loves.
Then, in a matter of hours, the floods took away equipment worth over GH¢400,000.
For some, it may look like damaged equipment. But for creatives, it’s much more than that. It’s the tools that feed families, serve clients, tell stories, and turn dreams into reality.
When The McBernard heard what had happened, he knew this was not a moment to simply sympathize—it was a moment to act.
As a creative entrepreneur who understands the struggles, risks, and sacrifices behind every successful creative journey, he immediately reached out to partners who shared the same vision of supporting the industry.
Today, through the leadership of The McBernard, McB Rentals, in collaboration with Sony Alpha and Godox Global, came together to provide Von Williams with equipment for an extended period as part of a CSR initiative aimed at helping him get back on his feet and continue doing what he loves.
Because sometimes, the greatest thing you can give someone is not equipment—it’s hope.
This moment reminds us that the creative industry is more than competition. It is a family. A family that celebrates together, grows together, and most importantly, stands together when one of its own is hurting.
Von, while the flood may have taken away your equipment, it can never take away your talent, your passion, your reputation, or the impact you’ve made through your work. Those are things no storm can wash away.
And to every creative reading this: may we never become so successful that we forget to lift others when they fall.
❤️
Today, The McBernard didn’t just lead a donation. He led a reminder that in our industry, no one should have to rebuild alone.
