Wright is Board-certified Anesthesiologist and Pain Medicine specialist with special interests in complex regional pain syndrome, opioid-use disorders, diabetic neuropathy and spinal cord injuries. In her academic practice, she sees patients dealing with chronic pain and helps them by prescribing m
edication, interventional therapies (such as injections and nerve blocks), physical therapy and also refers them to a pain psychologist as needed. She gears all individual care plans toward reducing pain and improving quality of life. "The best part of my job is seeing patients going back to work, being able to function, being able to have a relationship with their families and loved ones," she says. Dr. Wright is an Associate Professor and Vice Chair of Chronic Pain and Peri-operative Medicine in the Department of Anesthesiology at University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM). She is also program director of UMSOM's Pain Medicine Fellowship program. She was on the advisory board of the Maryland Prescription Drug Monitoring Program and also served as a physician expert in the VA neuromodulation program. She is also the Director of Wellness and Professional Fulfillment for the Department of Anesthesiology at University of Maryland, Baltimore. Dr. Wright was named a Rising Star in the "Super Doctors" edition of Baltimore magazine. She has also been recognized as a U.S. News & World Report "Top Doctor" on multiple occasions. In 2024, Dr. Wright won the much-coveted Physician of the Year award on National Doctor's Day.
