The Independent Newspaper Ghana

The Independent Newspaper Ghana The Independent News Paper is Ghana's Truly Objective newspaper to provide a platform for critical, objective and fair reportage and analysis of news.

The independent newspaper started from the balcony of its first publisher and editor, Kabral Blay-Amihere at his Nima residence. Incidentally this very premise is where the daily guide started and is currently located. Using a borrowed Olivetti typewriter from a girl friend, Kabral who had previously worked for the new times corporation as a features writer and columnist and edited the Free Press

prepared the first edition of the paper
amidst great financial odds. It was only with the assistance of the late Dr. Niyi Alabi and two friends, peter agbeko that newsprint was acquired for the first print out. There were few private newspapers at that. Most were sports and lotto weeklies. The first issue- only four pages was published on march 6, 1989 to an enthusiastic welcome by vendors and readers alike who knew the work of Kabral on the weekly spectator and free press.
