Hearing preservation is a part of being a responsible musician. There are many musicians and sound engineers who have very limited hearing. It is therefore advisable to wear hearing protection to musical concerts, on airplanes and most sporting events where large crowds are gathered otherwise you could damage or limit your ability to hear well.
