TUC CALLS FOR WITHDRAWAL OF DISPUTED L.I. 2462.

Bernard Owusu, Chairman of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), has once again urged the government to revoke Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2462, which permits mining in forest reserves. He made this call during an interview on Channel One Newsroom on May 1.

Owusu firmly stated that an amendment to the law is not sufficient, emphasizing that the TUC's demand is for a full revocation. He urged the government to take decisive action by going to Parliament to repeal the legislation entirely.

L.I. 2462 has come under heavy criticism from environmental groups and the public, who argue that it fuels the destruction of forests and illegal mining activities. Reports suggest that the controversial law may be repealed when Parliament returns from recess.
