🚨 IMC vs. GAHA Executive Committee: Understanding the Roles & Jurisdictions 🤾♂️🇬🇭
As the handball season unfolds, there has been much discussion regarding the administration of our regional league. To keep our readers, clubs, and sports community informed, Handball Press GH breaks down the distinct operational mandates governing the sport in Greater Accra.
The GAHA Executive Committee (Statutory Authority)
Elected under the GAHA Statutes, the Executive Committee remains the primary governing body responsible for:
Long-term strategic governance, policy development, and statutory oversight.
Full custody of association bank accounts, assets, and official administration.
Handling membership applications, constitutional amendments, and disciplinary appeals.
The Interim Management Committee (IMC)
Appointed directly by the Handball Association of Ghana (HAG), the IMC led by D.O.II Christian Osei-Yaw carries a specific, time-bound mandate:
Primary Task: Exclusively organizing and coordinating the logistics for the GT Accra Handball Association League.
Tenure: Operating strictly until the conclusion of the electoral process and the induction of a new executive body.
Where the Line is Drawn
While the IMC manages game-day operations and league fixtures, constitutional limits apply:
❌ No authority to amend GAHA Statutes or alter club membership status.
❌ No access to main GAHA corporate accounts or long-term financial liabilities.
❌ No role in directing electoral processes or acting as a final appellate body.
Clear boundaries ensure our league runs smoothly while keeping the legal integrity of the association intact! 📌
