In today’s video, I’m showing you how I use "Volume Shaping" to make sure the low-end hits hard without distorting. Whether it’s Afrobeats or Drill, the "pocket" is everything.

I’ve been engineering for 13 years, and getting the low-end right is still the #1 thing that separates an amateur demo from a radio hit. 📻

Is your mix sounding too "thin" or "digital"? 🎚️🤔

One of the biggest struggles I see in independent music production is a lack of Harmonic Weight. We often get caught up in clean EQs, but we forget that the most iconic songs were recorded through tubes and transformers that added "dirt" in the right places.

For this Afrobeats mix, I used parallel saturation to thicken the leads. This allows the vocal to sit "inside" the beat rather than just floating on top of it.

Pro Tip: If you're using stock plugins, try the "Soft Clip" or "Overdrive" settings at a very low mix percentage (under 10%). It changes the game.
