Breaking News: China has warned its citizens not to invest or build multimillion-dollar companies in Lagos, stressing that the Lagos State government has a record of demolishing properties and reclaiming land—especially those belonging to non-indigenous Nigerians, mostly the Igbos.

The Chinese government said it is watching events in Lagos very closely. They pointed to how shops and businesses of some Nigerians, whom the government insists are not “indigenes,” have been forcefully pulled down.

"If the government can treat its own citizens this way," a Chinese official reportedly said, "how can foreigners be sure their investments will be safe? What is happening to Nigerians in Lagos could be far worse for outsiders."

They further noted that most of the affected shops belong to traders who frequently travel to China to buy goods—ironically supporting the very trade relationship between both nations.

"We see what is happening. If indigenous Nigerians can be dispossessed of their businesses, foreign investors must be doubly cautious," China cautioned.

BREAKING🔊🔊🔊: Starting on October 1, 2025, immigration authorities in Nigeria will begin taking action across the country against foreign nationals who have overstayed their visas or breached their entry conditions.

The enforcement action will be applicable to these groups of foreign nationals:

Holders of expired Visa on Arrival (VoA).

Holders of expired Single and Multiple-Entry Short Visit or Business Visas.

Individuals with expired Comprehensive Expatriate Residence Permit and Automated Card (CERPAC).

Foreign nationals who breach Nigeria's immigration regulations will face penalties, which may include fines for overstaying, deportation, and potentially being barred from re-entering Nigeria in the future

An overstay of under three months may result in removal from the country, a fee of $15 for every day beyond the allowed stay, or you may choose a two-year entry ban as an alternative.

For stays ranging from 3 months to 1 year, individuals may face consequences such as deportation, a daily fine of $15, or a choice of a 5-year ban on entry.

If the absence lasts for more than one year, it may result in removal and a potential re-entry ban of 10 years or a permanent restriction on entry.
