Sawla-Tuna-Kalba MP Andrew Dari Chiwitey has appealed to GETFund to urgently support the rehabilitation of dilapidated school buildings in the constituency.

He says deteriorating infrastructure, worsened by rains, is disrupting teaching and learning in several rural Garkuon, where the only school is in a critical state.

The MP has also written to GETFund requesting intervention for affected schools.

Controller and Accountant-General Kwesi Agyei says about 4,000 public sector workers on the government payroll have outstanding student loans.

Speaking at the launch of the Student Loan Trust Fund's 20th anniversary celebrations, he said efforts are underway to recover the loans through salary deductions in line with the law, to help sustain the scheme and support more students.
