Okomfo Anokye was an Ewe Togbi and the twin of Togbi Tsali.

Tsali and Tsala (alias Okomfo kye) were twin brothers. Their father was Togbui Akplormada. These brothers were mysteriously endowed with potent spiritual powers.

Tsala, who later became known as Okomfo Anokye, left Notsie on his sojourn at a youthful age, and finally settled at Awukugua in present day Eastern Region. Because of his spiritual powers, he became known as Okomfo Notsie (in Ewe language, Notsie Hunor) or Notsie priest.

In Anlo oral history, we learnt Tsala (Okomfo Anokye) returned to Notsie around 1695 to consult with his brother Tsali before accepting the invitation of King Osei Tutu of Ashanti to help establish his kingdom (Ashanti Kingdom).

During the reign of King Opoku Ware, a war broke out around 1746, Tsala (Okomfo Anokye) sought permission from the king to visit his twin brother Tsali at Keteklebi (Fiaxor) to celebrate and fortify himself at the annual Dzawuwu celebration of Mama Adexe shrine before leading the Ashantis to the war which he won decisively for the Ashanti kingdom.”

Our oral Ewe history informs us that “Komfo Anortsie” was a Dogbo Nyigbo man called Amega Atsu Tsala Akpormada who used to live in Nortsie (a well established settlement in the 1450s). Amega Atsu Tsala (aka Okomfo Anokye) and Amega Tse Tsali (of Nortsie and Tsiame fame) are the twin sons of Amega Detor Akplormada (‘the thrown spear”), whose father was Amega Tsamla, son of Mama Kegbleape, one of the two daughters of Amega Gemedra of Nortsie, son of Amega Kugborka Gbe of Ketu, who was the son of Amega Kodisenu, the son of Amega Dzoboku. Amega Doe Dallah (father of Amega Anya, the founder of Anyako) was born after Atsu Tsala and Tse Tsali.

From what I have gathered from an interview from the Nungua palace, Naa according to their tradition is a mystery child who remained in her mother's womb for two years so the deity was consulted before she was brought forth.

Second, she sat down for two years without crawling or walking and the deity was consulted. This time it was established fully that she was a reincarnated old woman who headed a Jigwe clan in the Nungua traditional area.

So the deity declared her as a mystery child who had different spiritual ability to carry her clan. It was stated that what happened was not "BETROTHAL" but a "MARRIAGE TO THE DEITY" who is responsible for her birth and her reason to walk.

The marriage, per the tradition, is what they call an elevation of her spiritual status which could only be carried out in her virginity state. Not when she breaks her virginity.

It was also established that the rite to elevate her as a wife was not a "CULTURAL PRACTICE" but a "TRADITIONAL PRACTICE" performed solely for mystery children to elevate their queenship status as wife of the deity.

Since she is the wife, she is entitled to or has 16 houses she owned, lots of servants older than her and is not part of the priest's wife. She is also not staying with the priest and has a chance to marry any man she wants in her adulthood.

After all the insight I gained, my question also is: How can a person who is married to a deity also marry again? Are the deity's wives who are mostly from Ashile and Bosom Afi clans have their personal husbands aside the deity marrying them?

In the 1990s, legendary Ghanaian Highlife musician, Nana Amakye Dede travelled to the US (Atlanta) with his bandsmen for a concert.

After the concert, the members of the band vanished leaving the prolific songwriter and singer to return to Ghana alone.

Most of the members of the band were from Koforidua in Juaben (Eastern Region).

"Our house was a very big mansion, it had more than 20 so I used one as a studio and my father didn't know. So I was in the first floor and he was in the top floor and once he comes back from work he goes into the elevator and goes straight to his room. So he never hear the studio. But when I finished highschool, I moved to America for college. I first moved to Tennessee but I was the only African in the whole school and I didn't like it. So he moved me to Alabama. He didn't want me to stay in Atlanta though I was born there. He didn't want me to stay in Atlanta because he thought I'd be distracted with clubs and girls. So I went to Alabama and that's where the pröblem started. The school I went to was very musically inclined, they had the best choir and best music program in the area. But obviously my father never let me join because he didn't want me to have anything to do with music. When I first got to the school and I entered the dorm, upstairs in my room I was always hearing music. So I went upstairs one day and knocked the door and I'm like you I always hear music here! And the guy openned the door and he had a mini studio in school just for him. So I asked him how much it cost and he said $1k and I was like just that? Then I immediately paid him $2k and took everything. I was like 15, 16 and I started learning how to master, record and produce myself. I went on YouTube and taught myself, I was watching YouTube everyday. Everything is on YouTube and it is a good tool for learning how to do anything. Then after some time, I mastered recording myself and then I started dodgîng classes. Then back home in Nigeria, artist like Wizkid and Olamide are blowing up. So I just know I had to go back home because all my friends that I knew before I left had already blown up. Then I just went back to Nigeria and that's when my journey started and there was no turning back." Davido

Sometimes, you just have to be stûbborn inorder to achieve what you want. You have to be passionate and work towards your dream as if your life depends on it.

Nobody got it easy. Everyone had an obstacle they had to overcome inorder to succeed💯
