Boxing Writers Hail Imax Media And GBA For Splendid Organisation Of Professional Boxing League
Two sports journalists who are specialized in boxing reporting have commended Imax Media Group and the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) for their superb organization of the De-luxy Professional Boxing League which takes place at the Bukom Boxing Arena every fortnight.
Experienced Sammy Heywood Okine and enterprising Prince Dornu – Leiku who were guests of Ace Presenter, Hon. Mohammed Amin Lamptey on the ‘Boxing Arena’ on Max TV on Friday morning both appreciated the efforts of all those involved in putting up the show which is going to the seventh Fight Night.
According to Mr. Okine affectionately called ‘General One’ he personally loved the crowd who fill the seats at the Bukom Boxing Arena on every fight night and the GBA President for listening to suggestions to improve the programme.
Prince Dornu who operates the popular ‘Dornu’s Corner’ on Social Media also hailed the boxers and their trainers for showing up with marvelous performances.
According to General One who is founder of the Boxing Writers Association of Ghana (BWAG), it is the motivation of winning fantastic prizes as well as media hype that inspires the boxers to put up great display.
He also commended the referees and judges for fair officiating, by sometimes saving boxers in trouble.
Prince Dornu said the fans have been amazing, and he advised them to maintain and keep it up their discipline.
GBA Communications Director, Hon. Mohammed Amin Lamptey who hosts the ‘Boxing Arena’ programme is also the ring announcer and MC of the De-luxy Professional Boxing League. He applauded the musicians who come on the show to entertain boxing fans.
They also discussed the League Table which Fit Square is now leading and some of the outstanding boxers.
Some artistes who have performed on the show are Bukom Banku, Adotey Tetor, AK Songtress, King Jerry, Nii Funny, Klala, Adane Best, Tinny, Oko Lacy and Screwface.

Millennium Marathon Receives Gold Label Certificate From GAA
The 2022 Millennium Marathon organisers have been awarded a Gold Label Certificate from the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra on Thursday.
CEO of the GAA, Bawa Fuseini who presented the Certificate to Race Director Mrs. Catherine Morton noted that they will fully support the organization of the event which is scheduled for September 3rd 2022 in Accra.
He expressed that the GAA decided that honour the Millennium Marathon due to their excellent organization and expertise in sports event management as well as the number of sponsors they have attracted.
Mrs. Morton revealed that there would be three preliminary races for elite athletes running the 21 kilometers in Accra Kumasi and Tamale.
She announced the prizes for the top three as 15,000ghc, 8,000gh and 5,000ghc respectfully.
The Millennium Marathon which is approved by the AMS is in its six year, and has attracted 30 sponsors.
Present at the launch were representative of the Mayor of Accra, Mrs Yang Yang of Zonda Tec, Opoku Danquah Deputy CEO of GNPC, Dr. Ofori Asare Executive Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for African Games and Seleh Kalmoni MD of Japan Motors who advised Ghanaians to participate in Race by walking, jogging or running.
Also at the event were Dr. Kwame Baah Nuakoh, Mr. Fitness Akoto, Reks Brobbey an Olympian and international evangelist Dr. Lawrence Tetteh.

Lady Jay’s ‘Fire’ – Video Launch on Nov.1 At 4Syte Mansion
Globally acknowledged Ghanaian singing super star Lady Jay has been consistent recently releasing hit after hit, and now she is on fire beyond the door of return as her latest music and video has magical and mystical feeling.
She has gone beyond the standards of transcontinental level and now in a special class of her own.
The unveiling of the latest video comes off on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at the 4syte Mansion in Accra. It is going to be another exclusive show.
Lady Jay’s Fire is about to burn to remnants of mental slavery and modern colonialism.
Her single “Fire” is inspired by women empowerment and the Black Lives Matter movement.
Her production team led by the inventive Wael Hakeem of Wahala Entertainment has put together a striking video that every one must see.
They have combined spirituality, morality, ingenuity and creativity to produce a unique music and video that projects the royalty of the African.
The sound is definitive afro beat which can be used for dancing and meditating.
Lady Jay has been busy this year. After coming out with her debut EP “Anywhere you dey”, two of her songs, “Odo Nana” and “For You You You” got featured on HBO hit TV show “I May Destroy You”.
Lady Jay has been versatile in the African music industry for over a decade and has worked with some of the region's most influential artists including Sarkodie, Efya, BOJ, E.L, and Yaa Pono just to name a few. She is known to be the golden voice of West Africa and is known to have no limits to her talent.
She was signed by Wahala Entertainment in 2018 after she returned from Canada where she studied music business. The company works hand in hand with ditto music and since then released five singles and music videos which influenced a new generation of listeners.
She has also done her first virtual concert and is working on her famous live music concert “Magic Dream” held at the exotic Zen Garden.
Her concerts have set a new bar for live music in Ghana and attracted international attention, while a number of local TV stations are putting her on the spotlight.
The golden voice of Africa is coming up with various projects, one of which is titled “This is Africa”.
It is an anthem to all Africans and is a song that she holds very close to her heart. “This is Africa” is set for release later this year and is going to be the biggest project both Wahala Entertainment and Lady Jay have ever worked on.
She is also working on a number of projects with some of Africa’s biggest artistes and her team confirms that 2020 is going to be a big year full of astonishments.
Though Covid-19 tried to halt some of her projections, she is optimistic of achieving her goal.

‘Preserving our Planet and it's People to Protect our Purpose’ – Decathlon Joins Massive Clean Up At Regional Maritime University
On Saturday 26th of October, Decathlon the biggest sports shop in West Africa joined Plastic Punch and the European Union Ghana for the EU Beach Clean Up at the Regional Maritime University Beach.
With over 150 participants Punching Plastics together they collected a total of about 5.3tons of waste, made up of 4.1tons of plastic waste, 160kg water sachets, 400kg e- waste, 560kg textiles, 194kg shoes and 42 tyres, from the RMU Beach.
After a hard day's work to ensure that the Beach was clean, they practiced Aerobics together.

This is one of the causes that drives the Vision of our Project and it means, they will do everything possible to ensure the Planet that contains the Playgrounds and the People who practice Sports, are preserved and kept safe.

One-On-One Foundation tours beaches ahead of ‘Coastal Strength Challenge’
The CEO of One-On-One Foundation Mr. Emmanuel Olla Williams has visited various beaches in Accra ahead of the 2020 edition of the Tug of War dubbed ‘Coastal Strength Challenge’ to see the current state of the tourist attraction and source of fish for Ghanaians.
He told Yours Truly the situation at the beaches was very bad and something had to be done.
He hinted that this year’s ‘Strength Challenge’ is going to be for education on sanitation at the beaches and maintenance culture on the beaches.
“We are going to organize clean up competitions at the beaches in the communities and we shall award marks to contestants before the main event” he expressed.
According to him, the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources and Coastal Development Authority (CODA) have promised to support the initiative which will be under the theme – Gathering Strength to totally eliminate open defecation along the beaches.
He thanked the minister of Sanitation and director of CODA for their support, and appealed to corporate Ghana to support his initiatives.
He said the programme will take place in Dansoman, Chorkor/ Korle Gonno, La/Osu, Teshie/Nungua, Tema and James Town.

Dreamland Sports Plus to organize Okaikwei Triangular Peace Marathon 2020 on Nov.14
Emmanuel Olla Williams, CEO of Dreamland Sports Plus, Ghana’s undisputed community and schools sports events organisers says the roads are tarred, the athletes are set and the electorate and aspirants for political leadership are ready.
He hinted that they are contributing to the peace process by putting up the marathon to find a winner who will be the Peace Ambassador for the three vibrant and industrious constituencies.
“Okaikwei is divided into three constituencies, Central, North, South and as a company in the area, we are obliged to support for a peaceful campaign and elections, as well as maintain order, peace, be sporty conscious and have fun. We have sports talents at Okaikwei and we want to see them even before the completion of our sports complex” he said.
He announced that there would be cash and other attractive prizs for the winners and outstanding athletes, but they have to register at 20ghc and pick up a tee shirt for the race which starts from Okaikwei Central, through Okaikwei North and end at Okaikwei South (Bishop School Park).
Mr. Olla Williams who is the Youth Coordinator of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) revealed that the winner will take home 1,000ghc, 500ghc for second and 300ghc for third place.

Ga-Dangme Unity Organization To Honour Distinguished Personalities on Oct.10 at McDan Park
An award scheme instituted by Ga-Dangme Unity Organization is set to be organized to honor deserving and supportive Organizations and individuals who have in various ways provided support to the Ga-Dangme Unity Organization over the years.
This Maiden edition is under the theme “Fostering Peace, Unity and Justice Before, During and After the 2020 General Election and Beyond.”
Under the Auspices of the Ga-Dangme Unity Organization, resources persons will be drawn from various Political Parties, Ministry, Religious Leaders, Peace Council, and other relevant Stakeholders including Civil Society Organizations to give educational lecture on why there is the need to maintain Peace before, during and after the 2020 General Elections.
A statement released by the Organization noted that it is incumbent on every citizen to champion Peace and Cohesion.
“As part of the program, we would like to educate the public about the fact that we are in an election year; therefore, it is imperative to ensure that, as citizens, we do things that Promote Peace before, during, and after the General Election. This will ensure that in the end, the victory will be for all Ghanaians” the statement added.
The awards event is scheduled to take place on October 10, 2020, at the Mac Dan, La Town Park at 6:00 pm.
Renowned Personalities to grace this important event are His Royal Majesty Dr King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II Ga Mantse (Abiasuma), Africa’s and World Boxing Legend, Professor Azumah Nelson, Business Expert, Dr. Daniel Mckorley, and former Captain of Senior National Team and Player Stephen Appiah and Emmanuel Armah Senegal,
Dancehall Music Legend, Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale, Ga Highlife Artist Adane Best and other equally important people in Ghana will be present at the event.
The awards are under various categories; Institutional Awards( Most Honourable MMDCs Personality of the Year, Most Honourable Personality Minister of the Year, Most Honourable Member of Parliament, etc), Media and Events, Art and Cultural Performance, Greater Accra Referee Association, Sports (football, tennis, volleyball, boxing, and netball), Fishing/ Farming and Swimming, Entertainment, Telecommunications and Banks.

The International Youth Sports Day Activities also follows in the months of October but the 2nd leg of all Christians playing against all Muslims in the Greater Accra Region will be played before.

DJ Zel bags two international awards
Zelda Nana Yaa Adepa Dedaa Manteaw popularly known as DJ Zel, was a big winner at the 2019 Nollywood Entertainment and Leadership Awards (NELAS) and the Ghana Music and Arts Awards.
The nine-year old was adjudged the Best Outstanding Young DJ of the Year at the NELAS held in London, United Kingdom (UK) after winning the Rising Star of the Year at the Ghana Music Arts Awards held in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
After her latest achievements, DJ Zel in an interview was delighted with pursuing her dreams of becoming a top DJ in the World and promised to put in a relentless efforts to attain greater heights.
"First of all, I would want to thank my parents for supporting my dream as well as my management and I hope these awards would propel me to greater heights.
"I want to put Ghana on the World Map and I hope successes would help motivate my fellow young ones to persevere in their respective endeavours and achieve something good in life,'' she said.
DJ Zel recently received the Discovery of the Year nomination at the 2019 Ghana DJ Awards.
At her tender age, she has displayed her talent on big stages around the world, notably was her remarkable display on the turntables at the UnAfrik Live Jam in Leicester, UK.
