Did you know? One of the hardest parts of being a missionary is not the long days, the rejection, or even the homesickness. It's seeing someone you’ve grown to love and pray for make choices that go against God’s commandments—especially the law of chastity. As missionaries, we witness the spiritual battle within people we teach, and it weighs heavily on our hearts when they struggle to choose righteousness.
It’s important to remember: they are not disobeying us. We are not the source of the commandments—we are merely the messengers. When an investigator chooses a path contrary to the gospel, they are choosing to distance themselves from the blessings God has prepared for them. It hurts to watch, not because our efforts feel wasted, but because we know what peace and joy the gospel can bring, and we yearn for them to experience it too. 🖊️
Still, we are called to love, not to judge. Our purpose is to teach truth with compassion, to invite with humility, and to serve with patience. Even when it feels like all is lost, we trust in the Savior’s timing and infinite mercy. The seeds we plant may take root later—often when we are no longer around to see it. That’s the power of the Spirit and the grace of God at work.
So when you feel discouraged, remember this: Jesus Christ never gives up on anyone. And neither should we. As missionaries, we are His hands. When we continue to love, to teach, and to testify, we reflect His light—even in the darkest moments. The journey may be hard, but it’s always worth it. 🙏
