The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has introduced a new and improved payslip system for all government workers on the national payroll.

This upgrade is meant to make it easier, safer, and more transparent for workers to check their salary details without stress.

In an official statement released on February 9, 2026, and signed by the Head of Public Relations, Cephas N. Dosoo, the Controller explained that all government employees must now use their Ghana Card (NIA number) to access their payslips.

According to the Controller, this new requirement is to protect workers’ salary information and ensure that payroll records are accurate and secure.

Dear Nigerians, the man who held the woman from falling is our President, John Dramani Mahama.

Anyway, I didn't say anything ooo. Good afternoon. How is the family?

When President John Dramani Mahama touched down in Zambia for his three-day state visit, he wasn’t just arriving as Ghana’s head of state.

He arrived wearing identity.

Clad in a smock (fugu) — the traditional attire of Northern Ghana, worn by chiefs, leaders, and royalty — President Mahama made a quiet, confident statement: this is who I am, and this is where I come from.

But what was meant as cultural pride quickly turned into continental banter.

Some Zambians, unfamiliar with the history stitched into the fabric, casually called it a “blouse” — the kind typically worn by women. And of course, social media did what it does best: screenshots flew, memes exploded, and long-winded think pieces started popping up. Suddenly, a traditional outfit was a trending diplomatic debate.

To Ghanaians, though, it wasn’t funny.
Because the smock is not fashion. It’s history you can wear.

Long before hashtags and viral threads, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President, stood on the Independence podium in 1957 wearing the same smock — not alone, but with his compatriots. It symbolized unity, African pride, and a bold rejection of borrowed identities.

Here’s the kicker:
Zambia — the very country that called it a blouse — proudly hosts Kwame Nkrumah University, a respected institution named after the same man who wore the smock with pride.

So the question writes itself:
How do you honor the man… but mock the symbol he stood in?

And Ghana answered — the way we always do: with vibes.
No long essays, no debates. Just pride.

By Friday morning, social media had spoken: today was officially “Wear Fugu Day.”
Timelines exploded. Offices turned into runways. Streets were a sea of fugu — bold, bright, beautiful. I had to pass on my second fugu my precious students gifted me to a friend to rock.

Just fabric, pride, and confidence.

President Mahama didn’t respond.
Nkrumah doesn’t need to.
History already has.

Because sometimes, what looks like “just a blouse” to one eye…
is royalty to another.

And on this Friday?
Ghana wore it beautifully. 👑🇬🇭
