🌷 International Women’s Day 2025: Empowering Women – A Story of Resilience 🌷
With the theme “For ALL women and girls – Rights. Equality. Empowerment.”, for this year’s International Women’s Day, We are proud to share the inspiring journey of Hon Gertrude Adzo Borklo National Association of local Authorities of Ghana Trustee and Assembly Member Fume-Biakpa electoral area in Ho-West. She is also the CEO of Popsicles Ghana
Growing up in a rural area of Agbozume, Hon Gertrude faced the traditional belief that women did not need higher education but rather learn or take up a trade in smuggling which was much profitable at that time. Under the immense pressure of that environment, she made the courageous choice to pursue education at all costs.
Driven by a powerful dream and ambition, she wants to prove that women’s capabilities are beyond societal prejudice. She believed in the right to education, equality, and empowerment – not only for herself but for every woman and girl who have ever been told they could not dream big.
With resilience and determination, she empowers herself, graduating with a degree in Banking and Finance and a Masters in Development Finance. She did not only end there, she has taken courses in investments advisory, information technology, digital skills and entrepreneurship.
Today, she is forging her path as an entrepreneurship Consultant and business growth expert.
She actively contributes to her team by training teammates, and shares her knowledge and experiences through public speaking.
As an assembly member, she furthers her commitment to gender equality. Notably, she also organized women empowerment and business growth workshops to help other young women thriving to achieve success.
Her story is a powerful reminder of the importance of advocating for women’s rights, equality, and empowerment.
Let’s celebrate International Women’s Day and continue to champion a world where every woman and girl can thrive.
