GOD’S WORD FOR THE DAY

DATE: 18TH JULY 2026

SATURDAY OF THE FIFTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME

FIRST READING: Micah 2:1-5

PSALM: Psalm 10:1-4, 7-8, 14

GOSPEL: Matthew 12:14-21

THEME: RENEWAL OF MIND

The destruction of a person or thing starts with the mind. When we choose to entertain diabolic thoughts about someone or something, we set into motion the force of evil. Sooner or later, its bad fruits become evident.

Micah was a contemporary of the prophet Isaiah. He appeared on the scene at a time when cheating and corruption had become normal in the Northern kingdom of Israel and the Southern kingdom of Judah. He bemoaned the abuse of the human mind and its consequent evil activities: “Woe to those who scheme iniquity, who work out evil on their beds! When morning comes, they do it, for it is in the power of their hands.” (Mic 2:1).

The first verse of our Gospel text gives us an example of the abuse of the mind – “The Pharisees went out, and conspired against him, as to how they might destroy him.” (Mt. 12:14). Instead of spending their time meditating on the commandments of the Lord, the Pharisees took delight in planning evil. Their reason for wanting to destroy Jesus was that he was doing “good” on the Sabbath day (Mt. 12:1-13).

Good or evil is weaved in the factory of our minds. In the end, we have to live with whatever choice we make. Therefore, let us endeavour to renounce any idea that may cause destruction to life and property and pray that the Lord may renew our minds so that we may always harbour wholesome thoughts.

PRAYER: Holy Spirit, flood my mind with your grace. Take away from me, all evil intentions. Purify my mind in such a way that the fruits of my life may glorify you. In the name of Jesus I pray with thanksgiving. Amen

*SUFFERINGS & GLORY*
8th March, 2026

READ: 2 Timothy 1:1-18

But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

1 Peter 4:13

Suffering is always followed by glory. When people run away from the suffering, they are also inadvertently running away from the glory of God. The reasons why many people avoid full-time ministry is because they do not want to suffer any loss for Jesus Christ. If you lose your life for Jesus, you will gain it. If you suffer for Christ, you will receive glory.

By running away from any form of suffering whatsoever, you are fleeing from your greatest blessings in Christ. Remember that Jesus Christ is worthy to receive glory and honour and power and riches and blessing because He endured the cross and suffered the shame for us. How will you ever be worthy to receive glory and honour and power and riches and blessing if you are not prepared to endure your cross?

Onesiphorus was not ashamed of Paul’s chains but identified with Paul’s shame and disgrace. It is important to identify with the shame and disgrace that is associated with ministry. God has a plan for you. Immerse yourself into His will. Do not stand on the fringes and taste of the ministry without partaking in the sufferings.

You are promised glory after you have been a partaker of the sufferings. “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;” (2 Corinthians 4:17).

God is going to bless you mightily with His glory as you serve Him and fully accept to be immersed into whatever sufferings, shame, calumny, slander, defamation, horror or pain inflicted on you. God is great! At the end of the day, you will enjoy His glory.

Daily Blessings

"Wherever you walk, their counsel can lead you. When you sleep, they will protect you. When you wake up in the morning, they will advise you.

For these commands and this teaching are a lamp to light the way ahead of you. The correction of discipline is the way to life."

"Mark out a straight path for your feet; then stick to the path and stay safe."
Proverbs 6:22-23; Proverbs 4:26

Dear Friends,

The ski trails on the mountains have ropes which designate the boundary markers. Staying within the boundaries give a safe, fun and freeing time on the slopes. There are warning signs on these ropes which caution what can happen if someone ignores them and ski's beyond them: "There is no ski patrol or protection for those who venture out beyond the boundary markers. Your safety and life are in danger."

Despite this, many people have ignored these warnings and ski outside of them. Every year, someone needs to be rescued at great expense and some have even lost their lives: all for a "fun time."

God has given us boundary markers for our lives that provide a secure, free and enjoyable lifestyle. They are all in God's Word. Proverbs 6:22-23 says:

"Wherever you walk, their counsel can lead you. When you sleep, they will protect you. When you wake up in the morning, they will advise you.

For these commands and this teaching are a lamp to light the way ahead of you. The correction of discipline is the way to life."

So often we feel that freedom is doing whatever we want when we want to. However, true freedom is found in the security of following the commands of God. God's protection is so that we can enjoy His promises. He wants to protect us so He can provide for us!

We have the freedom to ignore the boundary markers. God won't stop us. However, He longs to show us how incredibly secure, free, and blessed life can be when we follow His path.

"Mark out a straight path for your feet; then stick to the path and stay safe." (Proverbs 4:26 NLT)

*HEARING BRINGS CHANGE*
27th February, 2026

READ: Jeremiah 13:15-18

Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

2 Timothy 2:1-2

The scripture says clearly, “Hear ye and give ear! Be not proud!” In other words, pride is the reason why people stop listening to preaching. When you do not have time to listen to the preaching of the Word, the Lord’s flock is carried away captive. The congregation is affected by your failure to soak in preaching and teaching properly.

Paul said to Timothy, “Do you remember the things you heard from me? Just preach the same things!” Timothy’s ability to preach was dependent on his ability to hear. This is the reason why deafness goes with dumbness. Most deaf people are also dumb. They cannot speak because they cannot hear. Paul was telling Timothy to keep hearing so that he could keep preaching.

Are you soaking in preaching messages? Do you have time to lie on the floor and spend hours in the presence of God? One day, I found about eighty-five messages on a particular topic, preached by a man of God whom I admired. I listened to all the eighty-five messages. Then I listened to them over and over again. As the weeks and months passed by, I noticed an upgrade in the anointing that was on my life.

I was listening to a message by Kenneth Hagin and heard him say, “In the ministry, it is important to bend over backwards to be honest.” That statement stayed with me as I grew up in the ministry. I have watched how people in the ministry lie and pretend so much, thereby destroying themselves. Dishonesty will destroy your whole life and ministry. Hearing a side comment on honesty can change your life. I heard that for myself many years ago when I was listening to a message and it changed my life.

*YOUNG & FRUITFUL*
26th February, 2026

READ: Ecclesiastes 12:1:1-14

It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.

Lamentations 3:27

The truth is that the most fruitful years of your life are between twenty-five and fifty. Every woman is most fertile between the ages of twenty-five and fifty. Usually, after the age of fifty she is not able to have children.

Nature is an amazing teacher. Nature teaches you what to do, what to expect and when to expect it. Nature teaches you that you will be most productive for God between twenty-five and fifty. God wants to use you when you are in your twenties, thirties and forties. Unfortunately, many people want to give themselves to God when they are in their forties and fifties and in the twilight of their lives.

Although you have many more desires and longings as a young man, your ability to fight back is greater. You can pray longer when you are a young man. It takes strength to pray. You can fast longer when you are a young man. It takes strength to fast!

I once had the privilege of being on a flight with a football star who had played in the English Premier League. He was so famous that his name had become a household name and all the fans had a pet name for him. He was a little older when I spoke to him. I asked him whether his ability to play had changed as he had grown older.

He explained, “Now, when I shoot at the goal, the shots are not as accurate as they used to be. The ball would go a little to the right instead of going straight. When I was younger, my shots were sharper and straighter.” He was describing many little changes that had taken place as he grew a little older. The changes in your body are not easy to detect.
