Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, affectionately known as the āStar of Africa,ā was a Ghanaian innovator, industrialist, philanthropist, and man of God whose legacy left an indelible mark on Ghana and the world. Born on August 26, 1948, in Bekwai in the Ashanti Region, he grew up with a deep curiosity for knowledge, technology, and the mysteries of creation. From an early age, he displayed extraordinary mechanical skills, often crafting tools and devices from limited resources.
Answering a higher call, Apostle Safo established the Kristo Asafo Mission in 1969, blending ministry with empowerment through science and industry. He believed that true faith must be accompanied by action, inspiring his followers to pursue innovation, discipline, and self-reliance. His message of combining spirituality with practical development transformed lives across Ghana and beyond.
In the 1990s, he founded Kantanka Automobile, the first indigenous car manufacturing company in Ghana. Through this groundbreaking vision, he designed and built vehicles, agricultural machinery, military hardware, and electronic appliances locally. These achievements positioned him as a pioneer in African industrialization, proving that Ghana could engineer world-class products without foreign dependence.
Beyond technology, Apostle Safo was a humanitarian.
