BREAKING NEWS: Lawyers for New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, have formally initiated plea bargain discussions over charges relating to an alleged GH¢30 million fraud and financial loss involving the Ghana Export-Import (EXIM) Bank.

Court documents filed at the Accra High Court on June 11, 2026, and obtained by The1957News, indicate that Wontumi, through his lawyer Andy Appiah-Kubi, submitted a request for plea negotiations on June 5, 2026.

Chairman Wontumi, alongside Thomas Antwi-Boasiako (currently at large) and Wontumi Farms Limited, is being prosecuted by the state over allegations of fraud and causing financial loss amounting to GH¢30 million to the Ghana EXIM Bank.
