THE THE MEANING & ESSENCE OF CONGREGATIONAL ZIKIR (WAZIFAH/HAILALLAH) AND THE WHITE CLOTH SPREAD.

The teachings of Tariqah are geared towards the wellbeing of humanity and to promote benevolence and harmonious co-existence amongst tribes, cultures, nations, religions and gender. On another strand, the teachings of Tariqah are against deprivation, war and subjugation of the weak and vulnerable in every society. That is why followers of the Tariqah are disciplined, well composed and peaceful.

Through the spread of the white cloth during Zikr circles (Wazifah), the essence of the peaceful co-existence is espoused and the need for personal hygiene emphasised. The Qutb explained that the white cloth in the Middle of Wazifah congregants encourages community and neighbourly cohesion and fairness in everything the Murid does. It reminds the Murid to keep their environment clean as it is often said: Cleanliness is next to Godliness. Unless we find ourselves in a different world, in our current planet, white is a symbol of peace, neatness, harmony and happiness. This is currently missing amongst majority of human beings and could be regained through "the way".

That is not all but also, the circular sitting arrangements among the Murid during the Wazifah illustrates trust, brotherliness, acceptability and friendship, unity of purpose, empathy and dependence; thus conforming to the Quranic teachings that the believers are keepers of one another (Q49:10). During the Zikr circle, the Murids face each other and in unison they chant the praises of Allah (SWT).

Even if the Prophet Muhammad (SAWAS) did not tell us this is the favour of Allah (SWT) upon Muslims, we should know that nothing on this earth can be better than a faced to face and heart to heart endearment to the will of Allah (SWT) in a harmonious and serene hymn of Laa illaaha illal Laah.

"SALAT-UL FAATIHI IS THE ULTIMATE ANSWER" ● Prof. Rashid Hussain Sultan Salwat, Sheihu Salawatia (Qutub Zaman RTA)

There is a pool of Salawat that can be said to the Prophet whether the Prophet accepts and acknowledges these Salawats is completely a different thing. Why have Muslims and the believers miss the point on how to send acceptable salutations to the Prophet Muhammad (SAWAS)? It is unpardonable because salutations to the Prophet existed before the daily prayers, fasting during Ramadan, giving out charity to the needy and Hajj.

Salawat to the Prophet Muhammad SAWAS has been the food and drink of all the Prophets and Messengers sent on earth by Allah to lead their people. Every one of the 124,000 Prophets were licensed to become Prophets on the agreement that Salawat to the Prophet Muhammad SAWAS will be the driving force of their visions because the Muhammadan Light is the blueprint of every creation. If all Prophets did this, then there is an obvious need to explore how the Prophet and Messengers say salutations to the Prophet.

This Book opines that the heir to the Prophet and the closer has the answer to the type of Salawat that will be acceptable because he (Imam Ali) was authorized by the Prophet himself. The book explores the basis for Salawat to the Prophet and how this should be said under five topics.

The book eventually compels the reader to understand that, SALAT-UL FATIHI is the recommended Salawat that the Prophet and his household acknowledges and cherish.

It is the best and deserving accolade as the Prophet himself has occasioned to have implored on believing men and women that He prefer to be called Ahmad, The openers of all that is closed (Al Fatihi Limaa Ugliqa), the leader of all onto the straight path and the fulcrum of Truth. Any Salawat that fall short of self-acknowledged characteristics of the Prophet will continue to expand the missing link and hence create further trouble for Muslims and believers worldwide.

It is time Muslims WAKE UP from their slumber and anesthetized demeanor and embrace the love for the Prophet Muhammad SAWAS and his Household. That is the answer to the dejection, raw stigma, opprobrium and misery that engulf Muslims. SALAWAT TO THE PROPHET IS THE KEY BUT SALAT-UL FAATIHI IS THE ULTIMATE ANSWER!.

"Salat (Prayer) goes with Zakat. There is hardly a verse in the Holy Quran that mentions Salat without mentioning Zakat in tandem.

The phrase “…Wa Yuqiimu Salaata wa yu’-tuz Zakaata (…and establish regular prayer and give regular charity (Zakat)”, In fact, similar verses appear in the Quran a number of times.

This means we should give Zakat as regular as we offer prayers, yet this noble virtue of redistributing wealth has been reduced to once a year affair."

THE DEFINITION OF TARIQAH ● Prof. Rashid Hussain Sultan Salwat, Sheihu Salawatia (Qutub Zaman RTA)

Tariqah literally means a Path or a Road. For our Islamic orientation and viewpoint and from the above discourse, we have carved out the definition of Tariqah to be used interchangeably with the Straight Path and the Millah (the path of Prophet Ibrahim A.S and other Prophets of Allah).

Simply put, Tariqah is the commitment and perpetual recital of Zikr (Wird) in accordance with the teaching of the Quran and Sunnah. In other words, it is the constant Remembrance and Glorification of Allah. It’s strictly the application of the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah as practiced by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWAS) and His pious and obedient Companions. It is the mainstream Islam based on the Quran and Sunnah. It is the assured way and the right Path to incur the pleasure of Allah.

The performance of Tariqah is called “Wazifah” or “Wird” and the one who practice it is called a Murid, meaning the one who seeks the pleasure by the constant performance of Zikr. It is important for the reader to recognize that in Islam, there is Istigfar (asking Allah for forgiveness) which has been prescribed : likewise Tasbihi (saying Subhana Allah). The most outstanding and greatest of Zikr (Remembering the name of Allah), according to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWAS) is “Laa ilaaha ilallaah”. Anything short of this is NOT ZIKR.

Sayyidinaa Umar RTA was reported to have said during a sermon he delivered in Madina explaining Quran Surah Al-Ahqaf, Verse 13:
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا رَبُّنَا اللَّهُ ثُمَّ اسْتَقَامُوا فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ

Verily those who say, “Our Lord is Allah,” and remain firm (on that Path),- on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. And he continued; “By Allah, they stood firm on the Tariqah” ~(Al-Qurtubi, Vol 15 Page 358).

Tariqatu Tijaniyya is essentially the obedience to Allah and not the cunning ways of the fox”

THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF TARIQATU TIJANIYAH, WAZIFAH AND OTHER FORMS OF ZIKR ● Prof. Rashid Hussain Sultan Salwat, Sheihu Salawatia (Qutub Zaman RTA)

Wazifah is to congregate and perform Zikr as taught by the Prophet Muhammad (SAWAS) through Sheihu Ahmad Tijani (RTA). Wazifah consist of three (3) Parts : Istigfaar, Tahlil and Salawat to the Holy Prophet (SAWAS); it is performed in congregation by doing all of the following :

1. Istigfaar : Asking for Forgiveness from Allah to atone your sins.

2. Tahlil : Pronouncement of Laa ilaaha ilal laah, (there is only one God, Allah ), and;

3. Salawat: to the Holy Prophet (SAWAS): asking Allah's Peace and Blessings upon the Holy Prophet (SAWAS).

HOW IS THE WAZIFAH DONE.
•─────────────────────•
1. Seeking Allah's protection from the cursed Satan.

2. Reciting Surat ul-Fatiha: the Opening Chapter of the Quran.

3. Istigfaar: Asking for Allah's Forgiveness.

4. Salawat to the Prophet: Thus asking Allah's Peace and Blessings upon the Prophet (SAWAS): Salat ul-Faatihi .

5. The Tahlil: that is, Laa ilaaha ilal laah.

The teachings and the performance of Wazifah is found in one single Verse in the Quran, thus Quran 47:19 espouses all the Principles Wazifah as :

Surah Muhammad, Verse 19:
‎فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنبِكَ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مُتَقَلَّبَكُمْ وَمَثْوَاكُمْ

Know, therefore, that there is no God but Allah, and ask forgiveness for thy fault, and for the men and women who believe: for Allah knows how ye move about and how ye dwell in your homes.

Allah commands the Prophet Muhammad (SAWAS) and the believing men and women to say Laa ilaaha ilal laah and to ask for forgiveness for themselves and for the faithful men and women.

CONDITIONS OF THE WAZIFAH.

These are the conditions to be fulfilled before one is introduced into the Tariqah. Consequently, when all of the conditions are met and an initiation is done, then one becomes a Murid. The Key Conditions are as follows :

1. To be a Practicing Muslim.

2. To shun all evil and wrong doings.

3. To practice and preach virtues.

4. To observe the Five Daily Prayers and Magnify Allah.

5. To observe physical hygiene and mental purity.

6. The Mosque or Place of Wazifah and it's surroundings must be clean.

7. To do everything for the sake of Allah

8. To maintain constant patience.

These conditions are very important because they are the firmest foundation upon which all spiritual development are built. In other words, one cannot attain spiritual height without the virtues identified as the conditions for Wazifah especially the virtues of being patient.

These conditions are found in Quran 74:1-7. They are the same conditions Allah prescribed to His Prophet (SAWAS).

May Peace and Benediction of Allah (SWT) be upon Our Beloved Master Muhammad SAWAS and May The Light Of Tariqatu Tijaniyya Enlighten Every Heart.

[Part 2] TIJANIYYA & THE INDEPENDENCE OF GHANA ● Prof. Rashid Hussain Sultan Salwat, Sheihu Salawatia (Qutub Zaman RTA)

After this meeting, the Sheihu [Sheihu Ibrahim Niass RTA] then went to Yendi and met Sheihu Abdallah Gomda RTA [The Sheihu of Sheihu Salawatia RTA] and latter to suggest to able Muslims scholars who were capable of performing the prayer and the spiritual research.

Sheihu Abdallah Gomda did not hesitate a minute and mentioned Sheihu Abdallah Kankangin of Bawku (Kankangin Morre), Sheihu Sofo also of Bawku, Sheihu Tahiru of Kumbungu, Sheihu Tububrika b. Umar of Karachi, Malam Sheihu Bawa of Takoradi and the spiritual head Burkina Faso, Sheihu Sidi Muhammad of Rahmatu-lahi, whose father, Sheihu Abubakar Maiga I, earlier on visited the country and was the guest of Mallam Sheihu Bawa of Takoradi. This team of spiritual leaders all belonging to the Tariqah At-Tijanyyia worked tirelessly and then fasted for forty days in order to meet the above request.

The Sheihu went back home with his part of the work and after a successful completion of their work, the team advised as follows :

1. The year to ask for independence should be 1957 and the day should be 7th and the month should be March.

2. The name of the country should be changed from Gold Coast to Ghana. This was to give it the same status as the Ancient Ghana Empire in terms of Might, Prosperity and Stability. These could only be achieved if and only the spelling of the name of the country gives it the same Spiritual Islamic Numerological value of G-H-A-N-A. (The word Ghana comes from the Arabic word,
"غني"
which means "Wealth".

3. Out of the list of names given to the spiritual leaders, Nkrumah's team was chosen.

4. For Ghana to be become a super power, the date 7th March, 1957 should STRICTLY BE ADHERED TO.

5. During the first five years, Nkrumah should request the colonial masters to pull out of Africa and grant Africa independence.

6. In order to have a very stable economy and a sound political country, a mosque should be built in the center of the capital. (The location given to the Muslims by Kwame Nkrumah is now what is known as, Salifu Amankwa gardens at Circle).

7. The group of spiritual leaders led by Sheihu Ibrahim Niass RTA in consultation with Sheihu Sidi Muhammad decided the spiritual numerology of the new country stand as the number 113. This number is to connote the BASMALA! That prefix the 114 Surahs of the Holy Quran, (except Tauba). From the bond of 1844 to the year 1957 would be 113 years. The last BASMALA to make up the 114 was intentionally left out to be made up later by a renowned Muslim Scholar.

8. Fugu (Smock) and the Fulla (Hat) which was prepared by spiritual leaders for Nkrumah and his group of minsters were what they wore [in the photo below the comments] on the Independence day. This was to give them the required charisma not to only rule Ghana successfully but to also unit the whole of Africa into a prosperous United Africa.

9. The inscription on the Infantry Coat of Arm should be in Arabic:
عسر يسر
Meaning after hardship comes ease. The Airforce Coat of Arm should have in it the Arabic inscription:
نصر الله
Meaning Victory from Allah. The Navy should have the Arabic inscription:
بسم الله مجريها
Meaning all the naval ships of Ghana are in the good hands of Allah.
