President Mahama exercise his prerogative of mercy

My Take:

This is a good constitutional right being exercised, kudos to the President.

It is not new; all Presidents in the Fourth Republic have done the same.

There is a need for society to accept and support the pardoned in reintegrating back into the community.

Presidents must not abuse this constitutional provision to favour their cronies.

The current remand system should be revisited to ensure fair justice for those awaiting trial.

Finally, I call for the total scrapping of the death penalty.
