As Ghana marks 78 years of remembrance, we honour the brave ex-servicemen whose sacrifice shaped our nation’s march toward freedom.
On 28th February 1948, at the historic Christiansborg Crossroads, three World War II veterans,Sergeant Adjetey, Corporal Attipoe and Private Odartey Lamptey were shot while peacefully demanding their rightful benefits. Their courage ignited a national awakening that ultimately paved the way for Ghana’s independence.
This year’s commemoration of the 78th Anniversary of the 28th February Crossroads Shooting Incident will be held at the Nationalism Park, near the Accra Sports Stadium, Osu, at 8:00 a.m with H.E. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang , Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, as Special Guest of Honour.
