In case you’re wondering why the President, H.E. John Mahama, has ordered a forensic audit into the 13th edition of the All-African Games hosted by Ghana, here are some of the reasons:
1. Parliament approved $195 million for infrastructure alone, yet it is alleged that over $250 million was spent.
2. The Sports Ministry claimed it gave GBC, the authorized broadcaster, $3 million for coverage. However, GBC vehemently denies this and states that it received only $105,000.
3. An amount of $150 million was allocated to the Local Organizing Committee solely for operational costs.
4. $15 million was spent on food for just 18 days 🤣.

As if that wasn’t enough, after the Games ended on 23rd March 2024, additional funds totaling $168 million were still transferred by Ken Ofori-Atta to the Sports Ministry:
• 17th May 2024: GHS 70 million released
• 3rd July 2024: GHS 30 million released
• 16th July 2024: GHS 30 million released
• 16th July 2024: An additional GHS 38.8 million released
