The Ghana Police Service has indeed made significant progress in combating crime, particularly with the recent arrest of suspects linked to rural bank robberies. According to the Inspector General of Police, Dr. Christian Tetteh Yohonu, ten suspects have been arrested in connection with these robberies, while three others were shot dead during a shootout with police. The police operation, which spanned several regions including Ahafo, Western, Central, Eastern, and Ashanti, resulted in the recovery of 14 fi****ms, including AK-47 rifles and pump-action shotguns, as well as large quantities of ammunition.

Regions Affected: The robberies targeted rural banks across multiple regions, with specific areas including Esereso Adagya, Ejisu Achiaakrom, Atonsu-Kyirapatre, Ahwia-Zongo, Kaase-BOST, Obuasi, and Buoho near Kronum.
Police Efforts: The operation was conducted through a combination of credible informants, data analysis, and weeks of surveillance, showcasing the police's commitment to intelligence-led policing.
Warning to Criminals: The IGP warned that the Ghana Police Service will continue to make life difficult for criminal elements and relentlessly pursue them wherever they are hiding.
In a related development, the police have also been successful in extraditing notorious armed robbery suspects, such as Adinda Abdul Mujibu, who was apprehended in Togo and handed over to Ghanaian authorities. Mujibu was linked to a series of violent attacks in Accra's affluent communities between 2022 and 2024.
