BREAST CANCER SCREENING DAY AT EPUC
Yesterday, the EPUC community came together for something more than just a medical screening it was a day of hope, awareness, and life-saving conversations.
The Breast Cancer Awareness & Health Screening, held in collaboration with The Adolescent and reproduction health unit of Ho Teaching Hospital, kicked off at 12 noon at the Ho kpodzi Campus and continued at 4 PM at the Main Campus. More than 100 students were screened, a powerful step toward early detection and prevention.
We were especially moved by the satisfactory turnout of male students. Their presence was a strong reminder that breast cancer is not just a women’s issue. Men, too, can be affected and yesterday, many took the bold step to get screened. That alone speaks volumes.
Alongside the breast screening, students also received:
✅ Free HIV testing
✅ Hepatitis A, B & C vaccines
✅ Syphilis vaccines
✅ Free condom distribution
Lecturers, staff, and the Dean of Students also passed through to support the cause a testament to the shared responsibility we hold in creating a healthier campus.
Though we hoped for an even greater turnout, we celebrate those who came, showed up for themselves, and reminded us that health is worth prioritizing.
It was a day of health empowerment and awareness, made possible by a joint effort between the SRC, WOCOM, and the dedicated health team.
As always, CBC was present to capture the moments, the impact, and the stories.
Because in the end, it’s not just about reporting, it’s about shining light on what matters.
