Over 1,000 Reusable Pads Donated to Taviefe SHS.
The Wellness Initiative Network (WIN), a non-governmental organization, has donated over 1,000 reusable pads to girls at Taviefe Senior High School in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region. The donation was made possible through the initiative of Togbe Afede XI, Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, in collaboration with Health Horizons from China.
The reusable pads aim to promote menstrual hygiene and support girls' education. WIN's president, Madam Rejoice Dzifa Tamakloe, emphasized the importance of teaching students how to take good care of themselves during menstruation to prevent illnesses. "We've organized the World Menstrual Hygiene Day to educate students on menstrual hygiene and provided them with necessary resources," she said.
The donation is expected to have a significant impact on girls' education in the Volta Region. Fiifi Annor, Managing Director of Strategic Initiatives Ltd, said, "We look at how our investments will impact positively on those we serve and the environment." The firm targeted Taviefe Senior High School due to its location in a deprived area where reusable pads would be particularly useful.
The firm partnered with the WIN Foundation, which has been working on menstrual health education in the area. WIN's president encouraged parents to continue educating their children on menstrual hygiene and taking good care of the reusable pads.
The Regional Minister, James Gunu, has expressed gratitude to Togbe Afede XI for donating over 1,000 reusable pads to students at Taviefe Senior High School. He described the initiative as a challenge and motivation to traditional rulers and individuals, noting that it aligns with the government's program to provide free sanitary pads to girls in primary and senior high schools across the country. Mr. Gunu called on individuals to support the program, emphasizing the importance of promoting menstrual hygiene and girls' education.
