Karaga District Marks 41st Farmersโ Day with Honour, Unity, and Celebration
The Karaga District today witnessed a colourful and well-organized celebration of the 41st District Farmersโ Day, held at the Karaga Astroturf Park. The event, led by the Department of Agriculture in collaboration with the Karaga District Assembly, brought together farmers, traditional leaders, government officials, and community members to honour the hardworking men and women who feed the nation.
The programme commenced exactly at 8:00am with the assembling and display of awards. Officers from various departments showcased the prizes set aside for outstanding farmers symbolizing appreciation for excellence, resilience, and dedication in the agricultural sector.
At 8:30am, the Chief Imam of Karaga offered the opening prayer, setting a peaceful and spiritual tone for the day. This was followed by the introduction of the Chairman for the ceremony, done by Alhassan Mahama Alhassan, who also doubled as the Master of Ceremony (MC) for the event.
One of the key highlights was the Chairmanโs acceptance speech at 9:00am, where he emphasized the need for continuous support for farmers and encouraged the youth to participate actively in agriculture. Shortly after, the District Chief Executive (DCE) Hon Dasana delivered an inspiring address at 9:50am, acknowledging the vital role farmers play in economic development and food security.
The excitement peaked at 10:30am with the presentation of awards. Heads of departments and chiefs joined hands to honour the best farmers of the yearโan emotional moment filled with applause, smiles, and gratitude. Winners received various prizes ranging from farm tools to household items, all aimed at motivating them to continue their hard work.
The Chairman later delivered his closing remarks at 10:55am, appreciating all stakeholders for making the event successful. An announcement of refreshments followed, courtesy of the Entertainment Committee.
This yearโs Farmersโ Day celebration not only recognized excellence but also reinforced unity, community spirit, and the critical importance of agriculture to the local economy. Karaga once again proved that when it comes to honouring farmers, the district stands tall with pride and gratitude.
