I'm A 22 Year-old Man Considering Marriage To 25 Year-old Woman With 2 kids After A Long Distance Relationship. Am I Moving Too Quick?

I need honest wisdom from married Christians, especially those who did young marriage or blended families.

I'm 22M, Christian, about to start my career as a carpenter ($21/hr apprenticeship). For a while I've been in a long-distance relationship with a 25F who has two kids, 5 and 2.

She is honestly everything I prayed for in a wife. Same faith, incredible character, amazing communicator, the way she loves her kids. This is not just infatuation. She is my best friend and I love her deeply.

I don't see her kids as baggage. I care about them and I can see myself loving them as my own.

Here is where I'm wrestling:

We are talking about marriage in the next 4-6 months, and then moving from California to Philadelphia to build our life together.

So at 22 I would be — getting married, moving across the country, starting a brand new career, setting up a household, and becoming a stepdad to two little ones, all at once.

When I write it out like that I'm like... wait a minute 😅

I have talked to older Christian men I respect, and they all say the same thing: "You're very young and you are taking on a LOT."

I get their concern. But I also don't want to walk away from an amazing godly woman just because a general rule says a 22-year-old shouldn't become a stepfather.

I don't want to just say "God brought us together so I'll figure it out later" and romanticize it. The Bible says to count the cost and seek wisdom.

So for those who've lived it:

1. Is 4-6 months enough time to seriously consider marriage long-distance?
2. What conversations MUST happen before marrying someone with kids?
3. How financially stable should I actually be before taking on a wife and two kids on $21/hr?
4. What does being a stepfather really mean that a 22-year-old doesn't see yet?
5. Is young age a reason to wait, or can a couple really build together from scratch?_*

I love this woman. I can see my life with her. I just don't want love to make me underestimate the weight of this covenant.

Don't tell me "just follow your heart." And don't just tell me "you're 22, don't do it."

I want wisdom.

I Just Had My First Baby, Will S*x Ever Be The Same?

I'm 3.5 months postpartum. I had a natural birth with a very small peri-urethral tear at the top (that's what my midwife called it).

Physically I am mostly healed, but it still doesn't feel like _me_ down there yet, and it's really affecting my confidence and intimacy with my husband.

He mentioned he can't really feel much, and honestly, I can't either. The emotional connection is there, but physically it's just not enjoyable right now.

I already have an appointment booked for pelvic floor therapy with a specialist soon.

For moms who've been through this — did things go back to normal for you? How long did it take? Any tips for recovery?

I just want to feel like myself again.

38 YEARS MARRIED AND HE HAS NEVER KISSED OR HUGGED ME.

My husband and I have been married for 38 years.

In 38 years, he has never complimented me. Never says "I love you." Never calls me, unless he can't find something. Never kisses me. Never hugs me.

We never had a first dance. We have never been on a real vacation in 38 years — just 5 weekend getaways in almost four decades.

And even those, we drove MY car, I bought the gas, and I paid for half the hotel room.

I lost my wedding ring in year 2. He only paid $150 for it 38 years ago, and he has never replaced it. I've been begging him for 3 years to get me another one. We've had two anniversaries and two Valentine's Days since I started asking again. Nothing.

He never spends more than $100 on me, no matter the occasion.

This weekend was our anniversary. All I wanted was something simple: book a hotel, go to a movie (we haven't been to the movies in over 10 YEARS), and go out to eat.

For our anniversary, he got me a $75 Bath & Body Works gift card.

Because I know how he is, I filled the car with gas and booked the hotel myself. I knew that paying for gas, a room, food, and a movie would be more than he was willing to spend on me.

Even after I paid for everything, he still told me "We ain't doing all that eating" and refused to take me to the movies.

I am so tired.

I feel like I have a roommate, not a husband. I feel like this man does not love me at all.

He refuses to share any financial information with me. I have no access to any of his accounts. He is so selfish he won't even buy life insurance. It's not about money — I found a bank statement in his car. He has plenty of money. He buys himself only the best of everything. But when it comes to me? Nothing.

He never apologizes for anything. His attitude is "Deal with it or you can leave." He has told me to leave a couple of times.

Is this even worth fighting for anymore? In my heart, I know he will never change.

Advice please, I'm broken.

Will I ever forgive my boyfriend?

Me (28F) and my boyfriend (27M) have been together for a long time.

He is the kindest, sweetest, most caring man I've ever met. He's not like other guys — he never curses, I've never heard him raise his voice once. He takes me on dates, brings me little surprises, makes me feel safe. He was supposed to be different from all the sh*tty men in my past.

But our s*x life was always... dead. It was so rare, and every time it didn't happen, I felt like something was wrong with ME.

For over a year I've been spiraling. Is he not attracted to me? Is he gay? Am I not pretty enough? Is my body the problem? I had countless conversations with him that went nowhere.

A few days ago I finally pried the truth out of him.

Months of me hating my body, crying in the bedroom wondering why my own boyfriend doesn't want me... and he was in the bathroom jerking off to other women. It feels so simple and so devastating at the same time.

I feel gross. Betrayed. Cheated on. Lied to.

I don't even recognize him right now, and I hate that my mind is going to dark places — wanting to hurt him back, to cheat just so he feels what I feel. I promised myself after my last toxic relationships that I would never let another man make me feel unworthy again.

I don't want to leave him. But these thoughts are cycling in my head all day long and I can't make them stop. I do go to therapy.

Has anyone been through this and actually made it out on the other side? How did you forgive?

Don't confuse the two; they are not the same.

8 TYPES OF GUYS TO AVOID IF YOU WANT A HAPPY RELATIONSHIP

Nobody is perfect, and that’s why no relationship is perfect. Every now and then, you meet someone who seems to check all the boxes, yet things still don’t work out the way you hoped. That’s true for men and women alike. We all bring our flaws to the table. But just because we’re imperfect doesn’t mean we should settle for anyone. Some imperfections are easier to live with than others.

If you want a comfortable, healthy relationship, you need to open your eyes to the red flags. Any guy who displays the following traits could bring you nothing but trouble. Be careful.

A. THE MAMA’S BOY

This guy still lives with his mother and constantly pushes her beliefs onto you. You’ll be discussing something important, and he’ll end it with, “Let me talk to my mom and see.” The problem with men like this is that they never seem to grow out of their mother’s web. Everything revolves around her. When they go straight from their mother’s house into marriage, they become a heavy burden on their partner. They expect you to treat them the way their mother did. Instead of seeing you as a wife or girlfriend, they see you as an extension of their mama. That’s where the trouble begins. They want you to take care of them exactly as she did.

B. THE QUICK-TEMPERED GUY

Little things set him off. When he’s angry, he’s uncontrollable. His anger usually flares up when he doesn’t get his way. Sometimes he might hit you—or try to. That alone should be a massive red flag. Quick-tempered men are driven by ego, and their ego must be satisfied before anything else. When they calm down, they’ll apologize for being abusive, but they never actually stop. You can’t tame that beast—you’re not trained for it. Either he seeks help, or you seek the exit.

C. THE GET-RICH-BY-ANY-MEANS GUY

There’s nothing wrong with ambition. Wanting to be rich is fine. Working hard to achieve your goals is attractive. But here’s the catch: these guys push everything else to the background in pursuit of their ambition. He’s always on the move, barely finding time to talk to you or meet your needs. You might think he’ll change once he’s successful, but success has no finish line. He’ll always be chasing the next thing. It’s possible to balance ambition with a relationship, but this guy sees only his ambition—nothing else.

D. THE WORKING HORSE GUY

Usually, the get-rich-by-any-means guys tend to be working horses. For them, getting home just means more work. They bring their work home constantly. They’re always on the phone discussing business or glued to the computer trying to get something done. Work never ends for these guys, which means they have no time to build a relationship with you. He might try to make up for it with expensive gifts or the occasional fancy date—but even then, the date becomes a date with yourself because he’s on the phone talking business the whole time.

E. THE “TIME IS NOT RIGHT” GUY

“Can we meet your parents?”
“This isn’t the right time.”
“We’ve been dating for four years. When are we settling down?”
“The time isn’t right for that discussion.”

You get the pattern, right? For this guy, there’s never a right time. The truth is, there’s no perfect time except the time you have. You can take the moment and make things work. Yes, there might be challenges here and there—but that’s what being a man is about. A man is meant to solve problems, not run from them. Saying “the time isn’t right” is just an excuse to avoid responsibility. Watch out for guys like this.

F. THE GUY WHO NEVER STOPS TALKING ABOUT HIS EX

It didn’t work out between him and his ex—that’s why he’s with you now. But these guys never stop ranting about their exes and constantly find ways to rub her qualities in your face. Newsflash: such guys usually still have feelings for their exes, and when the opportunity comes, they’ll leave you to be with her. It’s that simple. Whenever he compares you to his ex, you should come out on top. That would explain why he’s with you in the first place—he left the worse for the better. If he tells you his ex is better than you, know that you two have no future together. No one leaves a good woman for a bad one.

G. THE ON-AND-OFF GUY

Today he’s with you, making you feel like you’re everything he ever wanted. Tomorrow he’s gone, and you can’t even get him to answer a call. These guys take you on an emotional rollercoaster. He gives you a glimpse of a beautiful future together, then snatches it away. He makes you fall in love, then leaves you again. On and off he goes, until you’re left wondering what’s really going on. These guys can easily become an addiction, making you chase after them when they have nothing real to offer. He loves you perfectly one moment, and just when you’re lost in his love, he disappears. Give yourself some advice and move on—or he’ll turn you into his plaything, coming and going as he pleases.

H. THE “PAY FOR ME” GUY

These guys have a game plan, and they choose their ladies carefully. They make you fall deeply in love with them and earn your complete trust. A woman in love is vulnerable. A woman who trusts you deeply will do unthinkable things for you. These are the two premises the “Pay For Me” guys operate on. They get you to trust and love them deeply, then they start making demands. They’ll make you pay for everything—even buy them what they need. Their requests are crafted to make you feel guilty if you don’t help. Or, because you love and trust them so much, you’ll fear losing them if you don’t comply. Yes, there may be genuine problems where helping out is fine—but if it becomes a habit, you need to watch out.

Which of these guys are you living with? Share your views in the comment section.

I Made Out With A New Girl After My Breakup And Felt Nothing

I'm 20M and she's 18F. We're not dating, just been talking for a while.

My last relationship lasted 3 years and ended about a year ago. With my ex, I _craved_ physical intimacy. Even just thinking about being close to her gave me that nervous/excited feeling in my stomach because I genuinely wanted her.

I've had s*x before, but I'd never really had a proper make-out session, so I was curious what it would feel like with someone new.

Yesterday in the park, she kissed me out of nowhere. We started making out, but... I felt almost nothing. I wasn't uncomfortable or grossed out, I just wasn't enjoying it like I expected to.

Honestly it felt like I was just going along with it because _she_ was enjoying it and I wanted her to feel good.

This morning we tried again. I told myself maybe I just needed to get more comfortable, so I tried to be more into it. She seemed to enjoy it, but I still didn't feel that spark I remember with my ex.

Now I'm confused. Am I subconsciously comparing her to my ex? Am I just not that attracted to her? Or did my ex set the bar so high for how intimacy _should_ feel that nothing else measures up?

Anyone else felt empty like this with someone new after a long relationship?

23 and I've never been in a relationship — is there something wrong with me?

I grew up being that girl who was obsessed with beautiful love stories on TV. I used to daydream for hours about meeting "the one" someday.

I think I dreamt so much about the future that I forgot to live in the present. And now I'm 23 — the age where I thought I'd have everything figured out — and I've never had a boyfriend. Never been on a date. Never even held a boy's hand.

I was extremely insecure about my looks growing up. It got better with time as I grew into my features, but that feeling never fully left.

Everyone around me has had something — even a messy breakup is an experience. But I have nothing. Just daydreams.

It's not that no one was ever interested. In college, a few guys showed interest, but it never felt like they actually liked _me_, it never felt like a real connection. And I'm just not someone who can do casual. I need to actually feel something huge, and feel loved back.

Sometimes I wonder if I protected myself too much.

My friends say I'm cool and "sorted" for not settling for casual stuff, and part of me agrees. But on quiet nights, I just feel so sad and left behind. I have craved this love since I can remember, and now I'm scared I'll never actually feel it.

Has anyone else felt like this at 23? Does it actually happen later?

How do I break up without feeling guilty?

I need help putting this into words for my boyfriend.

He's so low effort and it's starting to affect me. I used to do so much for him but now I don't even feel excited to. He didn't get me a gift for my birthday. He doesn't post me.

He just doesn't know how to treat a girlfriend.

I caught him looking at other women on Instagram, so I tested him. I sent a pic of a really hot girl and said "do you like her?" and he didn't reply. Then I sent a pic of a girl who isn't conventionally attractive and he was like "ewww no never she's so yuck."

Like, what am I supposed to think after that? He says it's my fault for sending them, and yes it is, I know, but if he knew how insecure he's made me, couldn't he have reacted normally?

It's just constant disrespect. That feeling when you know someone is only doing something because you're there, not because they want to.

I stay loyal because I love him. I feel like he only stays loyal because he's scared I'll leave if he cheats again — and he has cheated before. For context, I have BPD, and after I caught him, I went to extremes. I even forced him to talk to a girl just to see if he would, I know that's fu**ed up. But he was so willing, he didn't even fight for me or say "I don't want to, you're my girlfriend." That hurt so much.

I love him and breaking up feels like my heart is being ripped out. But I know it's not healthy and the only way out is to break up.

How do I say it so he understands?

I Lost Attraction To My Wife After 10 Years Of Marriage

I'm 34M, my wife is 33F. Together 10 years, married 2.

I'll be honest - our s*x life has been broken for almost 8 years.

In the beginning, I was the one initiating every night. 9 times out of 10 it was "I'm too tired" or we'd just cuddle and that was it. I brought it up multiple times over the years. She always said she WAS attracted to me, but nothing ever really changed.

So eventually... I stopped trying.

For the last 5 years we've averaged maybe once every 3 weeks. Sometimes 5-6 weeks with nothing. She almost never initiated.

I think at some point I just switched off that part of myself to cope.

Now in the last year, my attraction to her is almost completely gone. It's not low libido - it's specific to her. I've also noticed I'm less affectionate in general and I'm putting less effort into us overall.

We finally had a really open talk recently and to her credit, she took it seriously. She's been initiating, really trying to make an effort.

And this is the part that kills me: *Now that she's trying, I feel nothing.* When she initiates I feel flat. If we do have s*x, I'm not present. I can't get into it at all.

I love her, but I don't know if I _want_ her anymore after years of feeling rejected.

Has anyone been here? After years of mismatched desire, did you manage to rebuild attraction? What actually helped?
