A miraculous story of a Hujjaj from Libya:

A young Libyan man named Amer was traveling for Hajj when he encountered a security problem regarding his name during the airport procedures. Security told him, "We will try to solve it for you, but you have to wait with us a little while." The other pilgrims completed their procedures, boarded the plane, and the door closed. Minutes later, Amer's problem was resolved, but the pilot refused to open the door for him, and the plane took off.

The security officers at the airport tried to console him, saying, "Allah is victorious; He does not make things easy for you." However, Amer refused to leave the airport and insisted, "I intend to perform Hajj, and In Sha Allah, I will go."

Suddenly, they received a report that the plane had a malfunction and was returning. The plane returned and was maintained, but the pilot still refused to open the door. The officer told him, "It was not meant for you." Amer replied with certainty, "I intend to perform Hajj, and In Sha Allah, I will go."

The plane started moving again, and after a while, a report came in that it had another malfunction, so it returned for the second time. At that moment, the pilot realized what had happened and said, "I will not fly without Amer." They took a photo of him as a souvenir, and they arrived safely."

WHAT MUST BE AVOIDED BY THE PERSON WHO WANTS TO SLAUGHTER

Ummu Salamah (may ALLĀH be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:

"When you see the new moon of Dhul-Hijjah, if any one of you wants to offer a sacrifice, then he should stop cutting his hair and nails until he has offered his sacrifice."

In another narration: "Then let him not touch anything from his hair or his skin." {Muslim #1977}

The hadith is evidence that when the Ten Days have entered and a person wants to sacrifice then he does not remove anything from his hair, his nails or his skin until he slaughters his sacrifice. If he has more than one sacrifice it is permissible for him to remove from them after he slaughtered the first.

What is most apparent from the statements of the people of knowledge is that the command to refrain here is an obligation and the forbiddance to remove anything shows prohibition because this is the norm (of orders and prohibitions). If he intentionally removes anything from them then he must repent and seek forgiveness but there is no expiation due from him according to the consensus; and that does not affect his sacrifice.

This prohibition is specific to the one sacrificing due to his (ﷺ) statement,

"And he wants to sacrifice." So it does not include the wife or the children if he wants to share the reward with them.

Whoever sacrifices for other than himself, by bequest or by being entrusted, it is permissible for him to take from his hair, nails and skin because the sacrifice is not his.

Whoever took from his hair what is permissible to remove, or his nails during the beginning of the Ten Days because he did not intend to sacrifice but then he intended to do so during the Ten Days, he should refrain starting from the time he has the intention.

Whoever needs to take something from them due to harm caused if they remain, such as a broken nail or a wound that has hair on it, and he specifies removing that only, then there is no problem. This is because the one sacrificing (and is not making Hajj) is not greater than the pilgrim who is allowed to shave if he is sick or has something harming his head. The difference being, the pilgrim has to expiation and the non-pilgrim does not.

It is not permissible for a woman who has entrusted someone to sacrifice on her behalf to take from her hair because the ruling is connected to the one offering the sacrifice whether they entrusted that to someone else or not. As for the one who was entrusted, then the ruling does not apply to him as was previously mentioned.

There is no harm in washing the head for a man or a woman during these Ten Days, because he only prohibited intentionally removing hair, and because the pilgrim is permitted to wash his head.

Selected Excerpts from the Friday Sermon at Masjid Al-Haram: Delivered by Sheikh Yasir Ad Dawsary in Masjid Al Haram, 18 Dhul Qadah 1446 AH

“And your Lord says, ‘Call upon Me; I will respond to you.’” [Qur’an 40:60]

It is among the laws of Allah that He made this world a place of trial and test, and set it upon difficulties and challenges. Often, the righteous and sincere face hardship, illness, grief, and distress, while the unjust and sinful may walk among people with ease. Yet, the hearts that truly turn to Allah in devotion, sincerity, and need—raising their hands in supplication—are met with relief, healing, and Allah’s pleasure. Indeed, Allah made du’a (supplication) the highest form of worship. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“Supplication is worship.”
And he (peace be upon him) also said:
“Nothing is more honorable to Allah than supplication.” [Ahmad]

Supplication is worship: It signifies the essence of servitude, recognizing Allah’s power, and surrendering to His will. The Prophets, peace be upon them, constantly turned to Allah in du’a. Allah says:
“Indeed, they used to hasten to good deeds and supplicate Us in hope and fear, and they were humbly submissive to Us.” [Qur’an 21:90]
They turned to Allah in submission and humility, and He gave them relief and opened doors of goodness for them in this life and the next.

Du’a is the refuge of the fearful, the sanctuary of the distressed, and a bridge between the earth and the heavens. It is the cry of the helpless who has no strength except with Allah, and the most powerful weapon of the weak.

Du’a is one of the greatest means of attaining relief and success. When the gates of hardship close and paths become narrow, when no one else can offer a solution—only the people of du’a, sincere and hopeful in Allah, will find a way forward. Du’a is the secret weapon of the believer in both hardship and ease.

Du’a brings comfort to the heart, removes distress, and brings hope. One of the companions said:
“Whenever a matter distressed the Prophet (peace be upon him), he would immediately resort to prayer.”

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“Indeed, your Lord is Generous and Shy. When His servant raises his hands to Him, He feels shy to return them empty.” [Abu Dawood, Tirmidhi]

Du’a is guaranteed, honored, and praiseworthy. Abu Sa’id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“There is no Muslim who supplicates to Allah with a du’a that does not involve sin or breaking of kinship, except that Allah gives him one of three: either He quickly grants it, or stores it for him in the Hereafter, or averts a calamity equal to it.” [Ahmad]

We are now in the sacred days of Hajj, among the best times for good deeds and acceptance of du’a. So take advantage—raise your hands, shed your tears, and seek forgiveness and the erasure of sins.

To those traveling to the Sacred Mosque: Honor your journey and destination, behave with the proper manners and reverence. Follow official guidance and fulfill all the necessary permits and rules set by the authorities.

May Allah bless this blessed nation which never fails to prepare, plan, organize, and serve the pilgrims with care and excellence. May He reward them for their efforts, and grant them success, security, and tranquility.

O Allah, grant us the opportunity to serve the pilgrims, and reward those who serve the guests of the Sacred House with the highest reward.

Sheikh Sudais: "O Allah, turn away from us the plotting of plotters, the envy of the envious, the deceit of the deceivers, and the aggression of the aggressors. O Allah, Your army is never defeated, and Your promise is never broken.

Deliver the oppressed Muslims wherever they may be. O Allah, grant victory to our brothers in Palestine and preserve Al-Aqsa Mosque proud and exalted until the Day of Judgment. O Allah, destroy their enemies from among the oppressive, occupying, usurping Zionists. Scatter them, break their unity, and make them a lesson for others to learn from.

O Allah, the night of affliction has grown long upon our oppressed brothers. O Allah, give them glad tidings of a dawn where their hardships are lifted, their worries are removed, and their burdens are lightened. O Allah, have mercy on their weakness, mend their brokenness, take charge of their affairs, and grant them victory over Your enemy and theirs.

O Allah, they are barefoot—so carry them; they are hungry—so feed them; they are unclothed—so clothe them; they are oppressed—so grant them victory. O Helper of the oppressed and Responder to the distressed"
