PRESS RELEASE
ASOKORE MAMPONG TRICYCLE OPERATORS ASSOCIATION
NOTICE OF FARE ADJUSTMENT ON SELECTED ROUTES

The Executives of the Asokore Mampong Tricycle Operators Association wish to officially inform the general public, commuters, stakeholders, and residents within the municipality that there will be an adjustment in transport fares on selected routes within our operational areas.
This adjustment affects the following destinations:
Bouban
Mampong
Pakoso
Asabi
Sepe Timpom
Sewaba
This decision has become necessary due to the growing transportation challenges faced by both passengers and tricycle operators, especially on long-distance routes.
Reasons for the Fare Adjustment
The Association has carefully considered the following factors before arriving at this decision:
High cost of tricycle maintenance
Increasing expenses on roadworthy certification and insurance
Rising operational and servicing costs
The need to improve transportation efficiency on long-distance routes
The need to reduce passenger stress and inconvenience
For a long time, passengers traveling to areas such as Bouban, Pakoso, Asabi, and other distant communities have been facing serious transportation difficulties, especially during rush hours between 7:00am and 9:00am.
In many cases, riders prefer loading passengers only on short-distance routes instead of carrying them directly to their final destinations. For example, a passenger traveling to Bouban may first be dropped at Aboabo Post Office, then continue to Sepe Timpom, and later board another tricycle to Bouban, paying separate fares of GHS 3 at different stages. This sometimes increases the total transportation cost to about GHS 9, while also causing delays, stress, overcrowding, and discomfort to passengers.
To address this challenge, the Association has introduced a moderate fare increment to motivate riders to carry passengers directly to their destinations without unnecessary stopovers and multiple loading points.
Approved Fare Adjustment
Routes with 15% Increment
The following destinations are entitled to a 15% fare adjustment:
Mampong
Asokore
Bouban
Pakoso
Asabi
Current fares:
Asokore Mampong to Aboabo Station — GHS 6
Bouban to Aboabo Station — GHS 7
Asabi to Aboabo Station — GHS 6
Pakoso to Aboabo Station — GHS 7
Routes with 10% Increment
The following destinations are entitled to a 10% fare adjustment:
Sepe Timpom — currently GHS 5
Sewaba — currently GHS 4
Purpose of the Exercise
The Association wishes to clarify that this adjustment is not only for rush hours but will serve as a daily fare structure to encourage more riders to operate directly on these routes at all times.
We believe this initiative will:
Reduce passenger suffering and transportation stress
Improve direct access to long-distance communities
Reduce unnecessary loading and stopovers
Improve transportation efficiency
Encourage riders to accept long-distance trips willingly
Improve convenience and safety for commuters
The leadership of the Asokore Mampong Tricycle Operators Association respectfully appeals to the public for understanding, cooperation, and continued support as we work together to improve transportation services within the municipality.
Signed
