The Berlinale Spotlight Screening Event makes its debut in Accra, Ghana, from November 13-17, 2024, offering a selection of acclaimed African films at the University of Media, Arts, and Communication.
Curated by Ghanaian film consultant Jacqueline Nsiah, the event showcases seven films from the 2024 Berlinale, including works from Tunisia, Benin, Mozambique, and Ghana, as well as a special screening of Abderrahmane Sissako's "Bamako" and "Timbuktu."
The event also features panel discussions on topics such as gender roles and film development. Supported by various international organizations, the event is free and aims to bridge the gap between African filmmakers and local audiences, addressing the challenges of film distribution in Africa.
