Transport fares to go up by 30% effective March 7

The Transport Operators Union and the Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana have announced a 30 percent increase in transport fares effective March 7, 2024.

A joint press release by the two bodies explained that the decision to increase fares stems from the government’s failure to address their concerns.

“As drivers’ associations, we expressed disappointment in the leadership for failing to address the concerns and implement fare adjustments to counterbalance the increased operational costs.

ASANTE AKYEM NORTH MCE DONATES DUAL DESKS TO WIOSO BASIC SCHOOL.

The Municipal Chief Executive of the Asante Akyem North Municipal Assembly, Hon. Francis Oti Boateng and Municipal Coordinating Director Mr. Asamoah Damoah has donated dual desks to Asante Akyem Wioso Presbyterian basic school to enhance teaching and learning in the Municipality.

Hon. Francis Oti Boateng said the donation would help reduce the furniture deficit in the schools within the municipality and make the pupils feel more comfortable to enable them to focus on their studies.” The donation was to create a conductive environment for the pupils to study well and improve their academic performance”. He added.

Hon. Francis Oti Boateng, urged management of the school to take good care of the desks provided.” They should educate the children to keep them safe at all times”.

The Assembly member for Wioso electoral area received the dual desks on behalf of the School and entire Wioso community thanks the Assembly and the government for their support which have come at the time the municipality is facing shortage of furniture in our schools due to increase in enrolment as a results of free education.

The Headmaster of school was so excited and thanked the Municipal Chief Executive for this kind gesture.
