A MESSAGE OF GRATITUDE AND RESILIENCE TO THE COMMUNICATIONS TEAM

Dear Esteemed Members of the Western North Communications Team,

Today marks exactly one week since our nation went to the polls for the Presidential and Parliamentary elections. Though the results did not go in our favor, it is important to pause and recognize the immense dedication and sacrifices each one of you made to project and protect our party and government.

In my two years as the Regional Communications Officer, I have witnessed firsthand your tireless efforts. To the serial callers, social media communicators, texters, panelists, constituency communications officers, and the entire Regional Communications Team, your commitment has been outstanding.

Special appreciation goes to the administrators of the Regional Communications Directorate for their unwavering support, as well as our talented graphic designer and photographer whose creative work brought our messages to life particularly in our marketing strategies like the and the Community Engagement and projects projections initiative.

For eight years, whether resources were available or not, you stood firm, amplifying the voice of the party and the government, defending our achievements, and communicating our vision for a better Ghana.
Your dedication has not gone unnoticed, and your contributions have been invaluable.

*While this defeat is painful, it should not break our spirit. Now is not the time to dwell on our losses or blame one another.* Instead, it is a moment to regroup, restrategize, and prepare to reclaim power.

Let us remain united and focused on holding the NDC accountable, exposing their inconsistencies, corruption, and broken promises.
We must be vigilant, articulate, and relentless in ensuring that Ghanaians see the truth.

Remember, the Nana Akufo-Addo government may have been someone else’s opportunity, but the next NPP government could be your turn. Let’s not destroy the very structure that has the potential to benefit us all in due time. We must nurture the "fowl that lays the eggs," for our collective reward is on the horizon.

Our strength lies in our unity, discipline, and commitment to the party's core values.

Together, we can rise from this setback, stronger and more determined than ever. The future of the New Patriotic Party and, indeed, the future of Ghana depends on us.

Let’s keep the faith and work tirelessly to ensure that the NPP returns to power.

Thank you once again for your incredible efforts. Let’s forge ahead with hope, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to our cause.

Forward Ever, Backward Never!

Yours in service,

Addo Yaw Harry

We are appealing to the good people of the Western North Region to increase our number of seats for the betterment of the region, particularly for our youth. The incompetence of the NDC Members of Parliament, who have held their seats for countless years, has pushed our region far below the belt of development.

It's time for positive change in Juaboso, Enchi, Bodi, Bia East, Bia West and Suaman.

NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY MOURNS THE DEATH OF HON. DR. JOHN AMPONTUAH KUMAH, DIRECTS PARTY FLAGS TO FLY AT HALF-MAST.

The New Patriotic Party has learnt with grief the shocking demise of Hon. Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, Deputy Minister for Finance and Member of Parliament for Ejisu Constituency, which sad event occurred on March 7, 2024.

Even before his ascension to national political limelight, Hon. Kumah showed signs of leadership in his teenage years as he was elected School Prefect for the Opoku Ware School. He was an energetic Party stalwart whose relentless activism was instrumental in the formation of Young Patriots, a youth group that championed the cause of the Party from 2009 to 2016.

Owing to his business and entrepreneurial acumen, Hon. Kumah was appointed as the first Chief Executive Officer for the National Entrepreneurial and Innovation Programme (NEIP) during the first tenure of the Akufo-Addo administration. His impressive management of NEIP led to his elevation as Deputy Minister for Finance in 2021, a position he held until his demise.

As Member of Parliament for Ejisu Constituency, Hon. Kumah demonstrated profound passion and commitment to the needs of his constituents which resulted in his recent acclamation as the Party’s 2024 Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency.

The New Patriotic Party takes solace in his legacy of hard work and dedication to our dear country and extends our deepest condolences to the bereaved family, particularly his wife and children and the people of Ejisu for this great loss.

As a mark of respect in his honour, the Party directs that all Party flags fly at half-mast for the next seven days.

Western North NPP Condemns ‘Western North Is The Most Useless Region In Ghana’ Comment By Captain Smart

The Western North Region of the NPP has denounced the terrible statement made by Godsbrain Smart, host of the Onua TV/FM Morning Show, in which he called the region the "most useless region in Ghana," one that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had established.

His allegedly offensive remark about the Western North Region has been ascribed to a number of things, including the chiefs' invocation of the local deities and ancestors to deal with Captain Smart if he doesn't offer an apology.

The comment was labeled "Unfortunate" by the NPP in a statement. They therefore call on all law-abiding residents of the area, regardless of their political differences, to not play the ostrich but rather to denounce the regrettable comment.

Below is a statement by the Western North NPP:

RE: RESPONSE TO THE UNFORTUNATE COMMENT MADE BY CAPTAIN SMART AND HIS ONUA FM MORNING SHOW CREW.

We have taken note of the regrettable statement made by Godsbrain Smart, also known as Captain Smart, of Onua FM, where he described the Western North Region as “USELESS.”

1. This statement has elicited strong reactions from various stakeholders in the region, and our esteemed paramount chiefs have taken the lead in calming the situation.

2. It is disappointing that despite his name, Captain Smart has not shown the intelligence one would expect by apologizing for his words.

3. As members of the NPP, we stand in solidarity with the Chiefs and the good people of the Western North Region in condemning Captain Smart’s statement. It is important to note that Captain Smart claims to possess knowledge ranging from archaeology to zoology, yet he has displayed a lack of wisdom in this instance.

4. The people and the chiefdoms of the Western North Region are far from “useless.” Since the creation of the region, the northern part of the former Western Region has witnessed significant development projects that would have otherwise been overlooked.

5. The region boasts prominent individuals, including the President of the House of Chiefs, the Minister for Environment Science and Technology, the Executive Secretary to the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Renowned Academics, Council of State Members, Board Members of both Private and Public Organizations Accomplished Businessmen, and more. Such a region, which has produced such accomplished. individuals, cannot be labeled as “USELESS.” The person making such a statement must be under the influence of an intoxicating substance.

6. While we acknowledge that no region is above reproach, if criticism is to be offered, it should be done in a manner that does not tarnish the image and reputation of all the region’s citizens and inhabitants.

7. We fought hard for the creation of this region, and we will not allow anyone, regardless of their status, gender, age, or profession, to insult us in any manner or form.

8. We urge citizens and inhabitants to speak up against any comments or actions that seeks to harm the image and reputation of the region.

9. Through this statement, we call on Godsbrain Smart and the Onua FM morning show crew to offer an unreserved apology to us.

10. Onua FM exists to educate and inform its listeners, and therefore, statements of this nature only serve to harm the brand and reputation of the station. We believe that the station’s owners should be concerned about this situation.

11. Captain Smart and his crew should always remember that no matter how tall an iroko tree may be, it can never touch the sky.

We urge all good citizens of the region not to play the ostrich but rather condemn this unfortunate comment irrespective of our political suasion, or tribe. Western North is the only region we have, let us guard its reputation religiously.

Thank you.

PRESIDENT AKUFO-ADDO COMMISSIONS €11.5 MILLION WATER SUPPLY PROJECT AT ADAKLU

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Monday, 3rd July 2023, commissioned Phase Three of the Five Districts Water Supply Project at Adaklu in the Volta Region, a project for which he cut the sod in September 2020.

The project, financed by a concessionary facility from Raiffeisen Bank International AG of Austria, at a cost of €11.5 million, will benefit some 89,150 people in 95 communities in Central Tongu, Adaklu and Agotime-Ziope.

According to President Akufo-Addo, who addressed a gathering at Adaklu, some of the key components of the Project are the construction of three (3) concrete tanks at Adaklu Kpeleho, Adaklu Sofa and Adaklu Kpatove, to help keep the water safe from any bacteria; the completion of a water booster station at Adaklu Kpeleho to transport water to Adaklu and Agotime-Ziope communities; and the laying of one hundred and seventy-five (175) kilometres of water pipelines.

With designs for Phase IV of the Project are ongoing, the President told the gathering that the focus of Government is to ensure that all Regions across the country are provided with adequate, safe, affordable and reliable water services.

“We are also committed to ensuring that we practice safe sanitation and hygiene by the year 2030, in line with the attainment of the 2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our strategic goal is to use a multi-faceted approach, with emphasis on governance and sector institutional strengthening, to accelerate access to equitable WASH services throughout Ghana,” he said.

Towards the goal of providing clean water and sanitation for all, President Akufo-Addo noted that his government has made significant progress towards this.

He cited the commissioning, in September 2020, of completed projects under the Water Supply Improvement Project of the Ghana-Spain Debt Swap Development, implemented by the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA), at a total cost of US$3.78 million, for a beneficiary population of 75,000.

“That Project seeks to expand access to and ensure sustainable services in thirty-six (36) rural and small towns/communities in the Ho, Ho West, Agotime-Ziope and South Dayi Districts. Outstanding works are expected to be completed by March next year,” he said.

President Akufo-Addo continied, “Again, on 30th June, 2020, I also commissioned Cluster Water Systems at Bontrase and Amasamkrom in the Central Region, as part of the Sustainable Rural Water and Sanitation Project (SRWSP). These commissioning ceremonies were done to symbolise the completion of similar water systems implemented in eleven (11) out of the sixteen (16) regions of the country, and it was financed from a US$47.5 million credit facility from the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank.”

The other beneficiary Regions, he stressed, were Ahafo, Bono, Bono East, Western, Western North, Northern, North East, Savannah, Upper West and Upper East.

The Project components. He added, included the construction of piped water supply systems, support for construction of household latrines, health and hygiene education and environmental and social safeguards for one hundred and sixty-four (164) beneficiary communities, with a total population size of 154,826.

Under the Rural Communities and Small Towns Water Supply Project (RCSTWSP), Government is improving access to sustainable water delivery within the Volta, Oti, Greater Accra, Ashanti and Eastern Regions to benefit a total population of some two hundred and eighty-two thousand (282,000), at thirty million euros (€30 million). The Project is ongoing, and some seventeen percent (17%) complete.
Urban Communities – “Water for All”
Touching on the “Water for All” Agenda in urban communities, President stated that the Keta Water Supply Project, being implemented by the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources through the Ghana Water Company Limited, would also improve the reliability and sustainability of water supply to a beneficiary population of some 422,160 in Keta and surrounding communities, at an estimated cost of €85,112,854.

Works under this Project, he indicated, are expected to be completed by December 2024.

Additionally, the Wenchi Water Project, being constructed at a cost of €39 million involves the construction of a new water treatment facility, and the rehabilitation of the existing ground water system to meet current and future water requirements of the community until 2045.
“The Project is expected to serve some 101,870 people living within Wenchi and its environs,” he said

On the Sekondi-Takoradi Water Supply Project, which would cost some €70 million, and which would serve a beneficiary population of some 1.4 million within Sekondi-Takoradi communities, President Akufo-Addo stated that the project is expected to be completed by September 2025.

“The feasibility studies for the proposed Sogakope-Lome Transboundary Water Supply Project are ninety-eight percent (98%) complete, and funding would be sought to achieve sustainable improvement to access to drinking water for four million consumers in the Project area. In Ghana, the Project beneficiaries will include the Southern Volta area, more specifically the Municipal/Districts of Keta, Ketu South, Ketu North, South Tongu and Akatsi South,” he added.

I'm humbly pleading to you as our cherished party members, to point out my flaws in administering the communication Directorate of our great party.

This will enable me, as a human, full of errors, to make amendment for the betterment of the directorate, the party and the Region.
