BIBLE STUDY OUTLINE – LESSON 4
SUNDAY 21ST SEPTEMBER, 2025

TOPIC: HUMANKIND REJECTED LIFE

Scripture Reading: Read Genesis 3:1-11 and ask questions about the difficult subjects. God Wants: all people to have fellowship with Him, but when we sin and reject Him, that fellowship is broken.

1. HUMANKIND REJECTED GOD’S WORD
When Eve began to listen to another voice, she began to go astray (Genesis 3:1-6). Adam and Eve rejected God because they did not believe what He said about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, rather, they all listened to the serpent (the devil) and followed his deception while God was only gracious to them.

2. HUMANKIND DID NOT LET GOD REIGN IN THEIR LIVES
Sin does not only mean doing what is evil, it also means not putting God first in your life, not believing in Him and not obeying Him. The first and greatest commandment is ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength’ (Mark12:30). It is not murder or adultery that is the greatest sin, not allowing God to rule our lives is rather the greatest sin.

The devil does everything he can to get us to dispute God and His word (Genesis 3: 1-4). As you live, if you do not pray and prayer does not matter to you, it means you have rejected God. If you are afraid of idols or witchcraft and cannot have faith in God that He can protect you, then it means that you have rejected God. If you think that a fe**sh priest or an amulet from a certain mallam can cure you, then you have rejected God. (Doctors, herbalists and many healers can help us, but as for the disease itself, it is God who heals.)

3. IF WE REJECT GOD, WE GET UNDER THE POWER OF THE DEVIL
Since humankind rejected God and the life He gives, they have been under the power of the devil (see Romans 1:28- 32). Only the life of God can pull us out of this character described in the text we read.

4. HUMANKIND CANNOT BLAME GOD FOR THE SINS IN HUMANS’ LIFE
No one cannot say, ‘That is how God created me so I cannot do anything about it’. God gave us the freewill in His own power to do what everyone wants, and therefore, if anyone sins, it is their own fault. Read James 1:13-15, Genesis 3:6

5. REJECTING GOD AND HIS WORD LEADS TO DEATH
God told Adam, ‘for when you eat from it you will certainly die’. Did Adam really die? Yes. Though, his body continued to live, his soul or character died. Adam and Eve were created in the image of God, capable of communicating with God happily. But because of their disobedience, they were separated from God and were expelled from the Garden of Eden. Spiritually, they died. So, have you ever tried to pray and you were unable to? Read Isaiah 59:1-4

Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear. - Isaiah 59:1-2

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 6:23

DISCUSSION: Scripture says: We have all sinned (Romans 3:23) and have all died (Romans 5:12). Do you agree with it? And what about those in your church? What about the people in your city and country? So, are you really alive or are you separated from God and spiritually dead?

3. Read Romans 1:28-32 again. Which of these things can you see in your own life?
4. Read Galatians 5:19-21. So will you inherit the kingdom of God or not?

WE ARE IN A MYSTERIOUS QUEUE

We find ourselves standing in a mysterious queue, ordained by the Sovereign Hand that governs the universe. Each of us awaits our inevitable encounter with mortality, yet the sequence remains shrouded in mystery. Our finite minds attempt to discern the order, but God's ways defy our logic. The elderly, the young, the frail, and the robust, all have been called home, leaving us to ponder the unfathomable wisdom of the Divine.

In this existential queue, we are reminded that life's fragility is matched only by its preciousness. We are but pilgrims, traversing the temporal realm, our steps orchestrated by a Heavenly Conductor. The uncertainty of our departure time humbles us, compelling us to live with intention and purpose.

As we navigate this enigmatic journey, we are confronted with the irony of life: our mortality is certain, yet the timing and circumstances are unknown. This paradox underscores the imperative to live authentically, to cherish each moment, and to steward our time wisely.

In the face of life's mysteries, we are invited to trust in the goodness and sovereignty of God. Our finite understanding gives way to faith, as we acknowledge that our lives are held in His hands. Thus, we are freed to live with abandon, to love without restraint, and to pursue our passions with reckless abandon.

Let us then, dear friends, seize the day, and live life to the fullest by living lives worthy of our callings. Let us honour the Giver of life by living each moment with gratitude, compassion, and purpose. For in the queue of life, we may not know who's next, but we can be certain that our lives will be lived in the presence of a loving God, who guides us every step of the way. May the good Lord continue to comfort us, and may we overcome this national tragedy more united and focused on pleasing God, loving one another and building a better Ghana.
