I have an observation to make.
I realized that some of our youth applying for the security services are falling foul to some elementary mistakes that are killing their dreams:
*DATES OF BIRTH:* Most of them have different dates of birth (in some cases three different kinds)
This is the most difficult to fix.
If the preferred age makes you younger than the rest you have near to zero chance of rectifying this as it might be seen as fraudulent.
If the preferred age makes you older than the rest, there is a chance you may scrape through with ancestral prayers😊
*NAMES*
Another tricky terrain is with regards to names.
In our societies the tendency for people to change names slightly or in some cases even drastically as we grow or get educated is prevalent.
In some cases Agyemang becomes Adjemang or Agyeman; KWASI becomes Kwesi etc etc.
*REPERCUSSIONS*
These changes though sometimes subtle and sublime can have serious crisis on identity that can affect us in various ways.
They may look harmlsess but become serious issues when we have to deal with official documentation as is happening with recruitments now.
*SUGGESTION*
I acknowledge that this might be too late for some of us but we can't afford to let our younger ones suffer same fate.
So I suggest that we make conscious efforts at educating our youth on this hidden danger.
Maybe we should make it a crusade to target schools at all levels. We can also use churches and any social gathering to hammer home the dangers involved.
However we look at it this is an issue that should not wait
