🚨 This is bigger than Ghana.

The proposed Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill is not just domestic legislation — it carries serious international consequences.

By amending the Extradition Act of 1960, Clause 19 could:

• Label activists and allies as “fugitive criminals”
• Expose travelers and refugees to international legal risks
• Create diplomatic strain with democratic partners

Human rights are not a crime. Advocacy is not terrorism. Identity is not an offense.

We urge Parliament and President John Mahama to uphold Ghana’s commitments to democracy, peace, and rule of law.

Ghana must not become a precedent for criminalizing solidarity.

Stand with us. Share widely. ✊🏾

Ghana at 69🇬🇭

As we celebrate 69 years of independence, we must remember that the promise of “Freedom and Justice” must truly belong to every Ghanaian.

True liberation cannot exist while some of our siblings live in fear of violence, discrimination, or state-sanctioned persecution simply for being who they are.

On this Independence Day, let us recommit ourselves to building a Ghana where dignity, equality, and compassion guide our national journey.

The dream of independence must include everyone.

👉🏿 No one is free until we are all free.

Ghana at 69: Advancing Human Rights, Empowering Youth

As Ghana marks 69 years of independence, the Centre for Youth Empowerment, Health and Rights Ghana (CYEHRG) joins the nation in celebrating the courage, sacrifice, and vision of the leaders and citizens who fought for our freedom and dignity.

Independence represents more than political sovereignty it reflects our collective aspiration to build a country where human rights are respected, equality is promoted, and every citizen has the opportunity to thrive.

At CYEHRG, we believe that the strength and future of Ghana lies in empowered young people, protected rights, and inclusive development. Our work continues to focus on promoting youth leadership, advancing health and rights, and ensuring that marginalized voices are heard and represented.

As we commemorate this national milestone, we call on government institutions, civil society organizations, development partners, and community leaders to work together to:

• Promote and protect human rights for all
• Invest in youth empowerment and leadership
• Advance health, equality, and social inclusion
• Strengthen civic participation and accountable governance

A truly independent Ghana is one where every young person has the opportunity, voice, and support needed to reach their full potential.

Together, let us renew our commitment to building a just, inclusive, and prosperous Ghana for all.

🇬🇭 Happy 69th Independence Day, Ghana!

🌍✨ Zero Discrimination Day – Rights for Everyone!

Today, we stand firm in our commitment to dignity, equality, and justice for all. Discrimination has no place in our communities, our institutions, or our future.

At CYEHRG, we believe every young person deserves access to healthcare, safety, and the freedom to live without fear or stigma regardless of who they are.

Let’s choose inclusion.
Let’s protect human rights.
Let’s build communities where everyone belongs.

🧡 Speak up.
💚 Stand with the marginalized.
💜 Promote equality.

State laws should protect everyone! Unfortunately, in some countries laws actively discriminate and criminalize ***an, , and people. Voices for equality are growing ever louder, demanding a society that is fair for everyone!

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has issued a detailed statement responding to allegations made by Hon. John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South Constituency and former Deputy Minister for Education, who accused the government of inserting LGBTQ-related content into Senior High School (SHS) teaching materials. NaCCA firmly rejected the claims and clarified the processes behind curriculum development and teacher support resources. The Council says the curriculum contains no LGBTQ content, and a revised digital manual has been released while old printed copies are being withdrawn.

This incident continues a familiar pattern: SRHR content being misrepresented as LGBTQ teaching—similar to the 2019 CSE controversy. With Fordjour among the MPs resubmitting the anti-LGBTQ bill, many see this as politically timed rather than evidence-based.

Grateful to see this conversation on Asaase Radio.
Powerful reminder from JonathanOseiOwusu that harassment is not always violent sometimes it’s disguised as “jokes,” but without consent, it is still harassment. Everyone owns their body.

🛑 Our Parliament Should Prioritize People, Not Prejudice

While many Ghanaians face poverty, unemployment, poor healthcare, and rising costs of living, some leaders choose to focus their energy on spreading hate instead of finding solutions.

No one should lose their dignity or safety because of who they are or whom they love. Ghana deserves leaders who fight for justice, equality, and the wellbeing of all citizens — not laws that promote violence and discrimination.

At Centre For Youth Empowerment Health and Rights Ghana We stand with all human rights defenders and communities calling for compassion, inclusion, and dignity. Hate has no place in our democracy.
