EXOUSIA TVโs OPEN LETTER TO THE BODY OF CHRIST
WHEN PERSONAL ATTACKS REPLACE SOUND DOCTRINE
Dear concerned believer, first, we invite you to carefully read the statement in the image below. Take a moment, read it fully, and then return.
Done? Good.
Those were not rumors; they were the exact words Rev. Yusuf Yinka used in 2023, publicly calling Dr. Abel Damina a โmad manโ and accusing him of hearing from the devil. yet some believers appear more troubled by a doctrinal response than by that blatant personal attack on a fellow minister of God. This reveals a dangerous inconsistency.
If we are going to claim spiritual maturity, then we must judge matters with honest scales.
Scripture leaves no room for ministers to recklessly assault the character of fellow servants. Titus 3:2 instructs us to โspeak evil of no one.โ Publicly attacking a ministerโs sanity is not boldness; it is a departure from apostolic discipline and morals!
Let us establish this plainly: Dr. Abel Damina unlike Rev Yusuf, attacked a teaching, or more precisely (words that were spoken that was against scripture and people Jesus died for in Uyo) and not a person. There is a difference between doctrinal scrutiny and personal insult. One strengthens the Church; the other weakens it.
The apostles examined doctrine relentlessly because doctrine shapes destiny. Paul declared in Galatians 1:8, โIf anyone preaches another gospelโฆ let him be accursed.โ Strong words have always been necessary to guard the Church from error.
Men who take a stand for the purity of the gospel should not be vilified; they should be respected. Throughout Church history, those who emphasized Christ and stripped away religious deception were often resisted before they were later understood. Courage in defense of truth has never been popular โ but it has always been necessary.
What is deeply troubling, however, is the posture of some critics. Ignoring a clear personal attack while condemning doctrinal examination is not wisdom; it is intellectual dishonesty. Proverbs 18:13 calls that folly, and Proverbs 17:15 warns against justifying wrong while condemning what is right. It suggests an unwillingness to think carefully and a preference for emotional loyalty over scriptural judgment.
The Bible warns in Proverbs 18:13, โHe who answers a matter before he hears it, it is folly and shame to him.โ Many rushing to criticize have not weighed both sides โ they have simply reacted. That is not discernment.
Even more sobering is Proverbs 17:15: โHe who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination before the Lord.โ Scripture uses strong language because God expects His people to value fairness and truth.
Let it be understood โ exposing error is not hatred. Paul commands in Ephesians 5:11 to โhave no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.โ Exposure is a responsibility of leadership, not an act of malice.
We write this not because we support Dr Damina, but honestly, Dr. Daminaโs unwavering stand for the gospel of Christ โ a message centered on redemption, grace, and the finished work โ deserves commendation, not hostility. The Church moves forward when leaders refuse to dilute truth for the sake of comfort.
Teachers, Scripture says, will face stricter judgment (James 3:1), precisely because their words shape lives. That reality demands caution from every pulpit.
The Body of Christ is not strengthened by shielding ministers from accountability. It is strengthened when truth is honored above personalities, and when doctrine is tested rather than protected by sentiment.
So let us rise above shallow reactions. Disagree if you must โ but do so with intelligence, fairness, and Scripture as your measure.
Do not confuse doctrinal correction with personal hostility. One safeguards the Church; the other destabilizes it.
Truth has never been the enemy of unity.
Silence in the face of damaging speech is.
Exposing error is not hatred; it is responsibility. Ephesians 5:11 commands us to expose what is unfruitful, not pretend it never happened.
Dr. Daminaโs firm stand for the gospel of Christ โ centered on redemption and the finished work โ should be applauded, not resisted. The Church is not strengthened by shielding personalities from accountability; it is strengthened when truth is honored above sentiment.
If insults did not threaten our unity, then correction should not suddenly divide us
Truth has never been the enemy of the Church โ
double standards are.
My name is Bright, and in the defense of the truth I stand!
