NDA Transfers One Million Dollar Constituency Projects to District Assemblies

The Northern Development Authority (NDA) has announced that all Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Projects (IPEP), also known as the One Million Dollars per Constituency Projects, have been officially transferred to the respective District Assemblies across Northern Ghana.

In a press release issued on Thursday, the NDA said the government’s directive aims to strengthen decentralization and ensure the efficient completion and management of community infrastructure projects at the local level.

According to the statement, twenty percent (20%) of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) will now be used to complete ongoing and uncompleted IPEP projects. The move, the NDA explained, is expected to empower local authorities to take charge of the projects and enhance accountability in their implementation.

Attack on GIS Officers at Gbintri Checkpoint Leaves One Dead, One Injured

A late-night attack at the Gbintri inland checkpoint in the East Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region has left one Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) officer dead and another critically injured.

The incident occurred around 1:30 am on Friday, October 3, 2025. According to initial reports, the officers were on duty when unidentified assailants opened fire on them.
Assistant Immigration Control Officer II (AICOII) Rafiq Mohammed was killed instantly, while his colleague, AICOII Oppong Daniel, sustained gunshot wounds to the jaw and back.

He is currently receiving treatment at the Baptist Medical Centre in Nalerigu.
Police investigators who visited the scene retrieved AK-47 shell casings and a GIS rifle with registration number GH/GIS/HQACN 668516-1646.

A combined team of security officers, led by Superintendent Francis Brobbey, the Gambaga Municipal Police Commander, and DIS Moro Tanko Mohammed, North Regional Intelligence Officer of GIS, has since launched investigations into the attack.

Authorities say efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. The Ghana Immigration Service and the Police have assured the public that further updates will be communicated as the investigation progresses.

Do you remember Ghana’s all-conquering U20 side that stunned the world in 2009? That legendary team shares a lot in common with the current football team.

The Black Satellites first conquered the WAFU Zone, then went on to rule Africa, and ultimately made history in Egypt as the first African side to win the FIFA U20 World Cup. In the final, they battled Brazil and, after a dramatic penalty shootout, emerged as world champions.

The University for Development Studies (UDS) men’s team has carved a similar path. They are the reigning football champions of Ghana, champions of Africa, and history makers on the global stage. UDS became the first African university side to qualify from the group stages, advance through the quarterfinals, and reach the grand finale of the FISU World Cup.

And just like in 2009, what stands between and glory is a Brazilian opposition in Paulista University. The question now is: can the , like the Black Satellites before them, overcome Brazil and etch their names into football immortality?
