HIGH PROFILE NATIVES OF Mamprugu Moagduri District.
This week, we present to you, yet another high profile personality from our beloved District.

Dr. Shaibu Baanni Azumah is a distinguished Agricultural and Development Economist, Policy Analyst, and Evaluation Specialist with over two decades of experience advancing agricultural transformation, climate resilience, and inclusive development across Ghana and West Africa.

He is the Executive Director of Asdev Foundation and leads Asdev Consult, a multidisciplinary firm providing evidence-based solutions in sustainable agriculture, youth empowerment, and gender equality.

Dr. Azumah holds a Ph.D. and MPhil in Agricultural Economics and a BSc in Agriculture Technology from the University for Development Studies (UDS), as well as an Executive MBA from KNUST. He has also earned several professional certificates from institutions in the Netherlands, Israel, and elsewhere.

He has led and contributed to major assignments for organizations such as AGRA, ECOWAS, AfDB, IFAD, Oxfam, and Plan International, influencing policies on climate-smart agriculture, youth agribusiness, and inclusive value chains. His research, published in journals like Regional Environmental Change, Environmental Development, and Scientific African, bridges science, policy, and practice.

A mentor and education advocate, he co-founded Olis International School in Tamale, nurturing future leaders through values of integrity, excellence, and social responsibility.

Dr. Azumah is widely respected for his visionary leadership, intellectual rigor, and commitment to sustainable, evidence-based development in Africa.

He was a contestant for the NDC Primaries.
