The Danquah-Busia-Dombo Tradition of the New Patriotic Party (NPP: Development in Freedom) has always championed a centre-right philosophy that seeks to liberate the energies of the Ghanaian people, believing that prosperity is best created when citizens are empowered to innovate, build, and own, while ensuring that no one is left behind.
It is this enduring balance, what President John Agyekum Kufuor aptly described as ‘capitalism with a conscience,’ that continues to define our approach to governance and national development as a party.
It is in honour of this rich intellectual tradition that I will deliver the keynote address at the 2026 Busia Institute Lecture on the theme, ‘Centre-Right Political Thought in Africa: The Ghanaian Experience.’ I look forward to an engaging conversation on the ideas that have shaped our democratic journey and how they can continue to guide Ghana’s future.
I encourage everyone in the UK, particularly members of the Ghanaian community, students, and young professionals, to be part of this important conversation.
