Clean and safe drinking water remains a major challenge for residents of Takaligu, a rural farming community in the Karaga District of the Northern Region.

For several years, the community has relied on a muddy dugout as its only source of water for drinking, cooking, bathing, and other household activities. The situation poses serious health and sanitation risks, as the same water source is shared with livestock, including cattle, goats, and sheep, leading to further contamination.

Residents of Banvim Dahini have appealed to the public for urgent support to help re-roof the community’s only Jammah Mosque. According to the residents, the mosque’s roof has been severely damaged, making it difficult for worshippers to pray comfortably and safely. They explained that the situation becomes especially challenging during the rainy season, as rainwater enters the mosque, disrupting congregational prayers and exposing worshippers to harsh weather conditions.

Poor road infrastructure continues to negatively impact the livelihoods of residents in many rural communities across Ghana, particularly in the Northern Region. Several feeder roads linking farming communities remain in deplorable conditions, making transportation extremely difficult. Kambonsiya, a farming community in the Karaga District of the Northern Region, is one of the areas most affected. The road linking Kpalsung, Kambonsiya, and Luligu has deteriorated significantly, hampering farming activities as residents struggle to transport farm produce to market centres.

The Tamale High Court was today, December 18, 2025, unable to deliver its ruling on the Stay of Ex*****on and the Notice of Appeal filed by lawyers for the applicant, following the absence of the presiding judge. Court officials informed the parties that the judge was unwell and therefore unable to attend court, leading to the postponement of the ruling. Lawyer for Mathew Nyindam has been speaking about the development.
