A worrying situation is unfolding at Bolgatanga Nursing Training College as 102 out of 347 students admitted for the 2025/2026 academic year have declined admission due to poor infrastructure and limited programme options.

The College Principal, Winifred Porsaa Wondong, revealed that six students who reported have already withdrawn, raising concerns about future enrollment and retention.

The institution continues to face challenges including inadequate accommodation, limited lecture halls, an aging auditorium, land disputes, lack of a fence wall, and insufficient academic facilities.

Despite these setbacks, the college recorded impressive academic performance, with 181 out of 227 students passing the Nursing and Midwifery Council licensing exams, while 25 students earned distinctions in the KNUST terminal examination.

Authorities are appealing for support from government, alumni, and stakeholders to improve facilities and restore the institution’s status.

A tragic accident at Adubinso in the Afigya Kwabre South Municipality of the Ashanti Region has claimed the life of fuel tanker driver Abass Toure after his vehicle overturned and caught fire.

According to reports, the driver lost control while attempting to navigate a curve, leading to the crash. His mate sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment.

The incident also destroyed seven roadside container shops and damaged a nearby vehicle before firefighters brought the blaze under control.

The community of Adubinso is mourning the heartbreaking loss as preparations are made for his burial according to Islamic traditions.
