New NADMO Director Vows Open-Door Leadership, Disaster-Free Ningo-Prampram
The newly appointed Ningo-Prampram District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Awudu Habib Mohammed, has pledged to pursue an open-door leadership approach aimed at fostering a disaster-resilient community within the district.
Speaking to Obonu News during a visit to Afienya, Mr. Habib emphasized his commitment to proactive disaster management and community engagement. He said his office would work closely with stakeholders and residents to ensure preparedness and swift response to natural disasters, especially flooding.
βAs part of my early activities, I have toured several flood-prone areas in the district to assess the current situation and gather first-hand information. I have also met with relevant stakeholders to listen to their concerns and chart a coordinated response plan,β he stated.
Mr. Habib issued a strong warning to individuals and developers putting up unauthorized structures on waterways, stating that such actions pose significant risks to lives and properties. He cautioned that his office will not hesitate to recommend demolition of such structures through the appropriate authorities.
βThe safety of the people is paramount. We cannot compromise on disaster risk reduction, especially when it comes to avoidable human actions,β he stressed.
Residents and local authorities have welcomed the new NADMO Directorβs hands-on approach, expressing optimism that his leadership will improve disaster preparedness and response in the Ningo-Prampram District.
