Police in Tamale have confirmed renewed tension in the Tamale Metropolis of the Northern Region following a ruling by the High Court against a Sunni Islamist group in the matter of the Republic vs. Anbariya Islamic Institute and six others, ex parte Technical University College, Tamale.

The High Court, presided over by Justice Richard Kugyapwah, on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, struck out a motion of stay of ex*****on filed by the Anbariya Islamic Institute seeking to stop the ex*****on of the same court ruling in which its members were found guilty of contempt and illegal occupation in a case filed by Tamale University College on July 16, 2023.

The earlier judgment passed in favour of the University College on January 30, 2023, asked that the Anbariya Islamic Institute, with immediate effect, vacate their illegal occupation of the premises of the University College.

Some parents, guardians, and stakeholders in the country have praised the Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, for an event-free Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) exercise this year.

According to the concerned Ghanaians, the fact that no incidents have so far been recorded during the self-placement and the general admission process attests to the prudent measures put in place by the Education Minister with support from agencies under his Ministry.

Three hundred and eighty-nine (389) artisans drawn from various districts in the Ashanti region have received training in their respective fields through the GNPC Foundation and the Aseda Foundation.

The trade areas include steel bending, interior decoration, event decoration, spraying, bead making, make-up, motor vehicle electricals, motor vehicle mechanics, dressmaking, hairdressing, tailoring, arc welding, gas welding, shoemaking, bakery, cookery, masonry, pastry, carpentry, tiling, general electricals, plumbing, aluminum fabrication, and so on.

For the past two years, under the guidance of the GNPC foundation, these artisans have gone through training to perfect their skills. They were also made to write NVTI examinations, for which certificates were issued to them.
