🚨 The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) raised serious concerns over organizational issues ahead of the AFCON final.

FSF criticized the lack of adequate security during the Senegal team’s arrival at Rabat train station.

Players and staff were exposed to crowding and security risks, which FSF says are unacceptable for a continental final.

FSF had to formally protest to secure proper hotel accommodation for the national team.

After the protest, a five-star hotel was finally allocated to Senegal, ensuring proper recovery conditions.

FSF officially refused to hold training sessions at the Mohammed VI Complex.

The refusal was based on fairness concerns, as the complex serves as the base camp of the opposing team.

As of the statement date, FSF had not been informed of Senegal’s designated training site.

Ticketing issues remain a concern, with only two official VVIP tickets allocated to FSF.

Although FSF purchased tickets for supporters (300 Cat 1, 850 Cat 2, 1,700 Cat 3), the numbers are insufficient and restrictions disadvantage Senegalese fans.

🇿🇦 South Africa’s Minister of Sports, Gayton McKenzie, has confirmed the country’s intention to bid for the 2028 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Southern Africa last hosted AFCON in 2013.
Botswana 🇧🇼 and Namibia 🇳🇦 are expected to be invited to join the bid.

The deadline for submitting letters of interest is 1 February 2026.

🚨 The Super League of Malawi (SULOM) has signed a landmark K5 billion (≈ $2.9 million) sponsorship deal with FDH Bank plc for the topflight league, officially rebranded as the FDH Bank Premiership, running for the next five years at K1 billion per season (≈ $588,000).

The announcement, brings to an end TNM plc’s 18-year sponsorship of Malawi’s elite football league, a partnership that began in 2007, following the expiry of its contract with SULOM.

Beyond the annual K1 billion sponsorship package, FDH Bank has also unveiled a K100 million (≈ $59,000) player welfare fund, which will enable footballers to access loans throughout the season to support various aspects of their personal and professional development.

The league winner is set to pocket MK200 million (≈ $118,000).

🚨 Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) president Samuel Eto’o has been suspended for four matches and fined $20,000 following alleged misconduct during Cameroon’s defeat to Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations.
