Knowing what to do in an emergency can make a real difference. ❤️
Although first aid does not replace veterinary care, knowing some basic steps can help you act quickly and safely while getting your pet to the clinic.
🚨 What should you do in an emergency?
🩸 If your pet has a wound or is bleeding
Stay calm, prevent your pet from licking the area and, if possible, apply gentle pressure with a clean gauze or cloth.
🔥 If you suspect heatstroke
Move your pet to a cool place and start cooling them down gradually. Do not use ice-cold water, and contact your vet as soon as possible.
☠️ If your pet has eaten something toxic
Do not try to make your pet vomit unless you have been specifically advised to do so by a veterinary professional. If possible, take the packaging or information about the product with you.
🐝 If your pet has been stung or has a reaction
Watch for swelling, difficulty breathing or any sudden change in their condition, and seek veterinary advice promptly.
🚗 In the event of an accident or emergency
Keep your pet as calm and still as possible and contact your vet or emergency veterinary service.
📞 Remember: acting quickly is important, but acting correctly is just as important.

🐾 COULD YOUR PET BE IN PAIN?

Our pets are very good at hiding discomfort, and sometimes the signs can be surprisingly subtle.

Changes in behaviour, appetite, movement or daily routines can all be clues that something isn't quite right.

Keep an eye out for:
🐾 Reluctance to walk, run or jump
🐾 Hiding or becoming less social
🐾 Changes in eating habits
🐾 Excessive licking of a particular area
🐾 Difficulty getting comfortable
🐾 Changes in behaviour or mood

If you notice a change that isn't normal for your pet, don't ignore it. Early veterinary assessment can help identify the cause and make sure they get the appropriate care. 🩺

Today is all about celebrating our four-legged friends — and making sure they have everything they need to live happy, healthy lives.

A happy dog needs more than cuddles and treats! 🐾
Regular exercise, mental stimulation, a balanced diet, preventive care and regular veterinary check-ups all play an important part in their wellbeing.

And sometimes, the simplest things make the biggest difference: a good walk, a favourite toy, a little training… or just being by your side. 🐕

🌾🐶 WHEN A WALK LEAVES MORE THAN JUST PAW PRINTS…

This little patient came to us with a grass awn (spike) lodged in the nose.

Grass awns may look harmless, but their shape allows them to move forward through tissues rather than coming back out easily. When they become lodged in the nose, they can cause significant irritation and discomfort.

Signs to look out for include:
🐾 Sudden or repeated sneezing
🐾 Pawing at the nose or face
🐾 Nasal discharge
🐾 Nosebleeds
🐾 Sudden discomfort after a walk

In this case, the spike was located and carefully removed under veterinary care. 🩺

A useful tip: after walks, especially through long grass, check your dog’s coat, paws, ears and nose for grass awns.

If your dog suddenly starts sneezing repeatedly after being outside, don’t ignore it — a grass awn could be the cause.

He may be tiny, but he’s already making a big impression! 🥰

🐶 Is your dog protected against Kennel Cough?
Kennel Cough is a highly contagious respiratory disease that spreads easily between dogs, especially in places where they gather, such as dog parks, boarding kennels, daycare facilities, grooming salons, training classes, and dog shows.
Common signs include:
🐾 A dry, persistent cough.
🐾 Retching or gagging.
🐾 Sneezing or nasal discharge.
🐾 In some cases, fever and lethargy.

💉 The good news is that it can be prevented.
The Kennel Cough vaccine helps reduce the risk of infection and, if a dog does become infected, it can lessen the severity of the disease.
