Haji Suwaneh has called on the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to promptly register any political party that meets the legal requirements for registration.
According to Suwaneh, parties such as NDP, UMC, NAFAA and any other political organisation that satisfies the conditions prescribed by law should be approved without delay or uncertainty.
While expressing disagreement with the politics and leadership style of Talib Ahmed Bensouda, Suwaneh argued that political differences should not affect anyone's right to form and register a political party.
He alleged that Talib Bensouda's political approach is based on division and manipulation, but maintained that democratic rights must be respected regardless of personal or political disagreements.
Suwaneh further stated that the decision on who should govern belongs to the Gambian people and not to the IEC or the government.
He argued that democracy requires open political competition and that voters should be allowed to decide which parties and leaders deserve their support.
