US President Donald Trump has announced what he calls the “biggest oil deal in world history” with Venezuela, claiming the US will gain majority control of 65 billion barrels of the country’s proven petroleum reserves. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the deal could bring nearly $100 billion in private investment to Venezuela, while Trump said it would strengthen US energy reserves and help lower gasoline prices. The Venezuelan government has not yet officially confirmed the agreement.
