Scanaid Celebrates Outstanding Achievements at the CAF School Football Championship

Scanaid Upper and Senior Secondary School is proud to announce the remarkable achievements of our representatives with Gambia at the recently concluded CAF School Football Championship. In the football category, Lamin Dampha (Alias Kimmich), Metta Manneh, and Mamuska Mendy represented Scanaid in the Gambia U15 team with exceptional skill, discipline, and commitment. Their performance on the continental stage reflects the quality of talent and training within Scanaid’s sports department.

In the media category, Ebrima Dembajang and Haddy Sowe, both members of the Scanaid Media Team, took part in the CAF Young Reporters Training. Through their reporting, storytelling, and media production skills, they demonstrated the emerging excellence of Scanaid in youth journalism.

These accomplishments stand as a testament to the dedication of our students, coaches, teachers, and the entire Scanaid family. We congratulate our representatives for making Scanaid proud on the continental stage.

Obituary Announcement

The entire Scanaid Senior Secondary School is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Isatou Kolley, a Grade 12 student of Scan Aid Senior Secondary School. The tragic event occurred on Tuesday, 14th October 2025, and she was laid to rest the same evening after Maghrib prayers at her family residence in Brufut Sataabakono.

She was known by her teachers and classmates as a humble, respectful, and hardworking student, who embodied the true spirit of dedication and excellence. Her untimely passing is a great loss not only to her family but also to the Scan Aid community, where she will be fondly remembered for her gentle personality and commitment to her studies.

May Allah (SWT) forgive her shortcomings, have mercy on her soul, and grant her eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus.
Ameen.

Scanaid Team Joins Brufut Nawettan 2025

As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), we are proud to return home and not only participate in school tournaments but also to give back directly to our community. Earlier last year, we donated a significant number of footballs to support youth sports development in Brufut, further strengthening our commitment to nurturing talent and empowering the next generation.

This year marks a historic moment as we joined hands with DARBOE AND SISE FA to become the first school in Brufut to ever participate in the Brufut Nawettan League. Our inclusion in this prestigious community football competition is more than just participation, it is a statement of community pride.

After an unbeaten performance in the qualifying rounds, our team has officially kicked off its first group stage match. In a spirited encounter against Ghanatown, the boys delivered an outstanding performance and secured a 1–0 victory. This triumph not only marks a winning start but also sets the tone for our Nawettan journey ahead.

Our participation goes beyond football, it is about building bridges with the community, inspiring young people, and showing that with teamwork, history can be made. We thank the Brufut community for their support and invite everyone to rally behind the team as we continue this remarkable journey.

MESSAGE OF APPRECIATION FROM MR. DEMBA TOURAY

I write as Manager and Chief of the Mission of the Scanaid School Football Team 2025 Jarra Soma edition to thank everyone who has in many ways contributed to this great success of winning the National School Football Championship Girls category for a 3rd consecutive times in a row. With a heavy hearth, I say thank you to the Scanaid International Board, The Scanaid National Board, The Principal Mr. Momodou Jallow and his entire Administration, Staff and General students. Special thanks goes to the Scanaid Head Coach Amadou BB Jatta and his team of technicians for a great and historic campaign. His players, the tireless Scanaid Medics, the hardworking Scanaid Logistics Committee, The Scanaid Media team, The Scanaid Ex-Players, The Scanaid Bus Driver Ebrima Manneh we can't forget you.

Special thanks goes to The Region 1 Local Organising Committee headed by the workaholic Gibie Sey for his gallant leadership, The Gambia School Football Association (Organising Committee) and their wonderful sponsors and partners for the great organisation of this years National Inter-School Football championship 2025 Jarra Soma edition. The community of Brufut and the Youth and Sports Committee, Scanaid Fan-base specifically to those in the town of Jarra Soma and the community of Sarreh Maudo, we love you all. Great thanks to our Scanaid cook, Aunty Kumba of Sarreh Maudo, Mr. Bajo of Sarreh Maudo Lower Basic School for being our host for the past 3 years with special treatment, but hey, big shootout to Nfamara, to BIG and Scala.. you guys have Scanaid at Hearth..

This year's School Football Championship was bent on a mission, and we thank God that the mission was accomplished. The primary objective was to win it for the 3rd consecutive time in a row by playing for 5 special people; Ellen Gomez, Fatoumata Jammeh, Sirreh Korteh, Kaddy Camara and Fatou Njie. We thank God that this mission was accomplished as everyone in camp all agreed to play for the following individuals, My Ellen, My Bestie Small Baebi, Korteh 1, Mba Nyamo and My Baby Fatou, this was mission accomplished despite all the challenges faced on the way.

As the season for School Football comes to an end last week Sunday in the commercial town of Jarra Soma, we hope and pray that next year becomes bigger and better. There cannot be a perfection but this year's organisation was much better and has proof that the Gambia Secondary School Sports Association can undoubtedly do better and I believe improvement can be done on the lapses realised this year.

THANK YOU ALL!!
SCANAID TO THE WORLD.

MR. DEMBA TOURAY

History has been made at the Soma Mini-Stadium!

The Scanaid girls have won once again, defeating Bottrop to claim the championship for the third consecutive time in what can be described as a remarkable achievement and a proud moment for the Scanaid Family.

On the boys’ side, it was heartbreak in the final as they fell to Charles Jow in a tense penalty shootout after a well-fought battle. Despite the setback, the boys showed great character and spirit throughout the tournament. Both teams have made Scanaid and Brufut community proud. They are champions on and off the field!
