The leaders of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda have signed a peace deal aimed at ending the long-running conflict in the region at a summit hosted by US President Donald Trump in Washington.

“This conflict has lasted for thirty years. We have seen countless mediation efforts, but none succeeded in resolving the underlying issues. President Trump introduced a new and effective dynamism, that created the space for breakthroughs.

It’s time for Africa to work with partners to consolidate and expand this peace as the only objective is, and has always been, for these countries to be safe and secure, after having endured so much tragedy.

Guinea just shipped its first-ever iron ore from the long-awaited Simandou project marking a historic moment for Africa’s mining sector🚢🇬🇳.

After years of delays, the world’s largest undeveloped high-grade iron ore deposit has finally moved into its export phase. The first cargo departed from the new Morebaya Port, headed to East China, using a fully integrated network of 600+ km of railway, new port facilities, and large-scale mining operations.

This milestone strengthens Guinea’s economy, boosts Africa’s position in global iron-ore supply, and deepens China–Africa industrial cooperation.
With the potential to export up to 120 million tonnes annually, Simandou is set to reshape global steel supply chains and open a new chapter in Guinea’s development story.

A major win for Africa✨🫶🏾
A new era for global mining🌍✨
