After few days of waiting, provisional results released showed President Macky Sall’s governing coalition lost its majority .However, the main opposition coalitions also failed to win a majority of the National Assembly’s 165 seats. Sall’s coalition ( Benno Bokk Yakaar ) won 82 of the assembly’s 165 seats,The main opposition coalitions (Yewwi Askan Wi) and (Wallu Senegal), running in an alliance, won 56 and 24 seats, respectively, for a total of 80. The remaining three seats were split among smaller parties and coalitions.

The opposition hoped a majority in the National Assembly would put into question whether President Macky Sall would seek a third term in 2024 despite being limited to serving two terms.

The CAF Awards 2022 will be held on July 21 2022 in Morroco. CAF has released the final list of nominees for the men's coach of the year of the CAF Awards 2022. Coach Tom Saintfiet will be up against Senegal coach Aliou Cisse, ex-Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane, ex-Egypt coach Carlos Queiroz and Wydad AC coach Walid Regragui.

Gambian referee, Bakary Papa Gassama is among the eight (8) referees from Africa who will be officiating the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. They will undergo training for some months ahead of the tournament which kick starts in seven months. Other African Referees selected for the Mundial are Jean Jacques Ndala (RD Congo), Mustapha, Ghorbal (Algeria), Redouane Jiyed (Morocco), Balmak Tessema (Ethiopia), Victor Gomez (South Africa), Janny Sikazwe (Zambia), and Maguette N'diaye (Senegal).

Ottawa police say a 24-year-old woman was the victim of a killing in the city's south end on Monday. Mariatou also known as Marie Gabriel was found dead inside her apartment. What'son Gambia disclosed that she was killed by her husband but The Canadian police did not disclose any information on her murder.

13 foreign nationals including 12 Nigerians and one Sierra Leonean were arrested yesterday by The Drug Law Enforcement Agency of The Gambia (DLEAG). they are suspected to be engaged in online scamming and fraudulent activities. According to gambia.com, some tried to escape by jumping from the back door of the storey building which resulted in injuries of five suspects.

A fatal accident involving a vehicle and a truck claimed five lives on spot. The accident, which happened on Wednesday 30th March 2022, took place in Berending. According to an eyewitness, the commercial vehicle was trying to overtake another vehicle. The victims including a mother and a daughter with serious injuries were rushed to the Ndemban Clinic in Bakau.

On Wednesday The Gambia, looking to build on their impressive run to the quarter-finals at this year's Nations Cup in Cameroon, beat Chad 1-0 thanks to a first international goal for Steve Trawally. The victory over Chad takes Gambia one step closer to qualification.
The game, played at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in the Cameroonian capital Yaounde, was technically a home match for Chad, who have been barred from hosting games due to inadequate facilities. The return leg will be played in Morocco because The Gambia have received a similar ban.

Police have arrested one Malick Sey for reportedly being in possession with “fake CFA” currency,The Point reported. The Young Man was arrested by police after he attempted to convert 50, 000 CFA notes believed to be fake for the dalasi denomination. He is currently with the police as investigation into the matter continues.

According to a statement from the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) in the Gambia on Tuesday. More than 6,000 people have fled their homes in Gambia and Senegal following Senegalese military operation against rebels in Casamance region.

Fighting pushed 691 people in Casamance to cross over and seek refuge in Gambia. A further 5,626 people were displaced within the Gambia after Senegalese bullets landed in border villages.

One gambian homeless man Abdoulie Koulibaly has been shoot to death in New York City last week along with three other men. As a homeless he was sleeping in a doorway next to an art supply store where he was shot during his sleep. The alleged killer has been arrested in Washington and charged with murder. Reports say Abdoulie was a street vendor before he fell prey to mental illness and homelessness.
