27/04/2026
Today, April 27, 2026, we commemorate 65 years since Sierra Leone raised its green, white, and blue flag as a free nation in 1961.
From the Lion Mountains to the Atlantic shores, this milestone honors the resilience, unity, and indomitable spirit of Sierra Leoneans. In 65 years we have weathered civil conflict, Ebola, and global challenges - yet we continue to rise. We celebrate our rich culture, from Bubu music to Gara fabrics, our diverse ethnic heritage, and our reputation as one of West Africa's most peaceful democracies.
As we look forward, let us recommit to _Unity, Freedom, and Justice_ - the words on our coat of arms. May the next 65 years bring prosperity, innovation, and opportunity for every Sierra Leonean child.
Happy 65th Independence Anniversary, Mama Salone. The land that we love, our Sierra Leone. πΈπ±
